Epilogue Debt

Excerpt: Final Debt

Nila

“READY TO DIE, Nila?”

Cut’s voice physically hurt me as he forced me to my knees. The ballroom splendour mocked me as I bowed unwillingly at the feet of my executioner.

Velvet and hand-stitched crewel on the walls glittered like the diamonds the Hawks smuggled—a direct contrast to the roughly sawn wood and crude craftsmanship of the guillotine dais. No finesse. No pride. Just a raised podium, framework cushioning a large tarnished blade, and a rope dangling to the side.

“Don’t do this. Cut…think about what you’ve become. You can stop this.” My voice mimicked a beg but I’d vowed not to beg. I’d seen things, understood things, and suffered things I never thought I would be able to endure. I refused to cry or grovel. I wouldn’t give him that satisfaction.

“In five minutes, this will all be over, Weaver.” Cut bent to the side and collected a wicker basket.

The wicker basket.

I didn’t want to think about what its contents would be.

He placed it on the other side of the wooden block.

My lungs demanded more oxygen. My brain demanded more time. And my heart…it demanded more hope, more life, more love.

I’m not ready.

Not like this.

“Cut—”

“No. No more talking. Not after everything you’ve done.” Ripping a black hood from his pocket, he didn’t hesitate. No fanfare. No second guesses.

I cried out as the scratchy blackness engulfed my face, tightening by a cord around my throat.

The Weaver Wailer chilled me. The diamond collar that’d seen what I’d seen and whispered with phantoms of my slain family prepared to revoke its claim and detach from around my neck.

This was it.

The Final Debt.

Cut pushed my shoulders forward.

A heavy yoke settled over the top of my spine.

I closed my eyes.

I said goodbye.

I waited to die.

Nila

One Week Earlier

“NO!”

I pushed back, gripping the handrails of the private jet, throwing my weight against Daniel’s incessant pushing. “Stop!”

“Get up the fucking stairs, Weaver.” Daniel jabbed his elbow into my spine.

I stumbled, bashing my knee against the high tread. “You can’t do this!” How had this happened? How had mere hours turned the entire universe against me? Again.

I wanted to smash every clock. Tear out the cog from every watch.

Time had once again stolen my life.

Jethro!

Daniel cackled. “I think you’ll find we can.” He shoved me higher.

My heart hurt—as if every mile between us and Hawksridge was a blade slicing me further from Jethro’s protection—a disharmony in an already discorded symphony.

One moment, I’d been love-bruised and adored, tiptoeing back into the Hall; the next, I was trapped, forced to dress in jeans and a hoodie, and obey Daniel as he lurked in my doorway, barking orders to pack a few meagre belongings.

He hadn’t left me alone.

His eyes followed my every move. I couldn’t grab the gun I’d hidden thanks to Jasmine. I couldn’t text Jethro to tell him I’d been caught. All I could do was run around my room with my lover’s release still damp on my inner thighs and submit to my nemesis.

The only saving grace was beneath Daniel’s hateful stare, I’d managed to pack the clothing I’d altered a few weeks ago. The cuffs full of needles and hems armoured with tools of my seamstress trade. Those garments were my only hope. There was no loophole. No way to refuse.

I had to trust Jasmine would get word to Jethro. That he would come for me…

Before it’s too late.

The desolation I’d suffered when Daniel first caught me faded to indignant anger. I’d been so close to being free. I’d been in Jethro’s arms. I’d been away from his psychotic family. My heart hardened a little toward Jethro for making me go back.

Why? Why did you send me back?

I didn’t know if I’d have the courage to forgive him.

You know why. And you will. Of course, you will.

I couldn’t hate him because I wasn’t selfish. He’d sent me back to protect all of us. Those precious few who’d accepted him and he’d accepted in return. Love was the worst enemy, winding its commitment, ensuring no freedom when it came to clearheaded thinking of adversity.

Jethro loved too much. Felt too much. Suffered too much. And his siblings would be our downfall. Kestrel and Jasmine relied on him—just like I did. The responsibility of settling his family’s wrongs was a terrible burden to bear.

But he’s not alone.

I might’ve been stolen. Jethro’s plans to save me might be ruined. But I was still alive. Still breathing. I wasn’t the naïve girl who’d first arrived at Hawksridge. I was a woman in love with a Hawk. A Weaver who would draw Hawk blood.

It’s not over…

Pain exploded in my spine as Daniel stabbed me with his fist. “Get in the fucking airplane.”

“No!” I threw myself backward, looking frantically at the private hangar. We weren’t at Heathrow, but a small, private airfield called Turweston. “I won’t!”

No strangers I could call for help.

No police or air marshals.

When Daniel had stalked me from my room and shoved me outside, Cut had been waiting. With a victorious smile, he’d stuffed me in the back of a limousine.

With a purring engine, we’d pulled away from Hawksridge, tyres crunching on gravel as we followed the long driveway off the estate.

My eyes had scoured the trees, their silhouettes growing stronger as the sun tinted the sky with pink blushes. Daniel and Cut sat opposite me, toasting each other with a chilled bottle of champagne. However, I hadn’t been alone on my side of the limo—I had a guard.

Marquise, Bonnie’s damn henchman, sat beside me; a mountain of muscle, unyielding and impenetrable.

“Come along.” A strange voice raised my gaze.

A man in a captain’s uniform smiled from the top of the aircraft steps. The private plane’s fuselage glinted in graphite grey. Sparkling diamonds, inlaid in the shape of a windswept ribbon, decorated the tail.

“I don’t want to leave England.”

Daniel laughed behind me. “Like you have a choice.”

“I always have a choice, Buzzard.” I glowered over my shoulder. “Just like this choice of yours will not end well for you.”

If I don’t kill you, Jethro will.

As far as Daniel knew, his slain brother was supposedly rotting in some unmarked grave. Jethro was right. The element of surprise trumped any of Cut and Daniel’s grand delusions.

He snarled, “Watch it, bitch. Everything you say to me here will be paid in full when we’re there.”

“Now, now. No need for threats.” The captain climbed down a rung, holding out his hand. “She’ll get on board. Won’t you, my dear? No need to be afraid of flying. I have an exemplary record.” White hair tufted from either side of his pristine flying cap. In his mid-fifties, he looked fit and toned and impatient to take off.

“I can’t leave.”

I can’t be so far from Jethro.

The captain smiled, waving at his vessel. “Of course, you can. Plus, I bet you’ve never travelled in such style.”

“It’s nothing against your mode of transport. It’s the destination I disagree to. I’m staying here.” I dug my heels into the metal grate, fighting against Daniel’s perpetual pushing. “I don’t have my passport, visa… I can’t travel across borders, so you might as well let me return home.”

Home.

Had Hawksridge Hall become my home?

No, don’t be absurd.

But Jethro had. It didn’t matter where we ended up. What we did for work. How our lives panned out. As long as I was alive with Jethro by my side…I would be home.

“Don’t fuss about that.” The captain waved his hand in invitation. “Travel is good for the soul.”

Not my soul.

Travel meant my soul would become untethered from my body, thanks to Cut and the Final Debt.

The sun barely peeked over the horizon, hidden by soupy fog and reluctant night. The world refused to warm, unable to shed the morning frost or dislodge the claws of winter. England didn’t want to say goodbye as much as I did, its reluctant dawn wanting me to stay.

“If you don’t get on the motherfucking plane in two seconds, Weaver, you’ll live to regret it,” Daniel growled.

I glared at the youngest Hawk. “Haven’t you learned by now your threats don’t scare me?”

Forcing myself to stand taller, I hid the quaking in my bones, the quivering in muscles, the rampant terror scurrying in my blood. “I know where you want to take me, and I refuse.”

Daniel pinched the bridge of his nose. A second later, he cuffed me on the back of the head. “Behave!”

I gritted my teeth against the wash of agony.

“Almasi Kipanga is a fucking treat for the likes of you, Weaver. Get on your knees and show some goddamn appreciation. Otherwise, I’ll rip out your fucking tongue and ensure peace for the rest of the trip.”

“Ah, as I said, there’s no need for violence.” The captain took another step, prying my hand off the railing and tugging me upward. “Come along, my dear. Let’s get you inside. And don’t you worry about visas and things. Leave it to me. Airport control won’t be an issue.”

Vertigo cast the world in monochromatic greys as I swayed toward the captain. “But—”

Cut barrelled past Daniel—reaching the end of his patience. Grabbing my arse, he shoved me upward, forcing me like unwilling livestock up the final steps. “I have your passport, Nila. Get on the plane.” His breath skated over the back of my neck. “And don’t think about refusing again. Got it?”

Gripping the fuselage, I looked over my shoulder. “My passport? How did you—”

He waved a black binder in my face. “Everything is in here. You have no more excuses, and I won’t ask again. Get on the fucking plane or I’ll knock you out and you can wake up when we get there.”

review[1]
pink5pawstars
This woman is going to kill me with her writing. I swear every time. I think I have seen the best from her she proves me wrong. Beyond Her Words is AMAZING! I fell in love with Bink’s writing when she first put herself out there for the work with The Diary Of Bink Cummings. I have yet to find a book of hers that I don’t enjoy.

Beyond Her Words takes you into the life of Magdalene. She seems to have all the good in her life striped away from her. With little hope of ever finding true happiness she sets out to start a new life in New York, when she has an accident that landed her in the hands of Lachlan. The big, bad scary, alpha biker with a heart of gold you just can’t get over. You talk about hot these two are beyond hot. Magdalene is this sassy strong willed woman that you just have to love.

I will tell you that I was ready to throw this book right at Bink and kick her in the ass (not literally). When you can rip my heart right out of my chest and leave it lying on the floor you know you have an outstanding story on your hands. I love the message this book gives you to never stop fighting for what you believe in or dream of. You just have to want it bad enough to fight for it. Really who can resist a Scotsman anyways? Swoon!!! I love this woman and her stories. I can’t brag about her enough. I wish I could give this book the true stars it deserves, because 5 is just not enough.

I have been lucky enough to be a part of her readers group (fan group) and get to know her a little more than just what she shows most of the world. Let me tell you she is awesome all the way around. I’m glad to be able to follow her journey and looking forward to her blowing my mind many more time along the way!!!

According to Patrick Killion’s favorite data analyst at the Agency, he was a half-inch short of being the perfect romance hero. As long as the inch she was talking about was his height and not his dick, he didn’t give a rat’s ass.
Today, at a measly
five foot eleven and a half inches, he towered above the locals. His height, combined with his sun-bleached blond hair, meant he definitely did not blend in with the Colombian population. He didn’t bother to try.
The CIA dealt in threat assessment and probability levels, manipulation and human intel.
Lockhart’s appearance, expertise, hidden Cayman Island bank account, and the fact she was in the right place at the right time for Vice President Ted Burger’s murder, made her his number one suspect. So, despite FBI ASAC Lincoln Frazer telling him to back off yesterday, he was still following her. He couldn’t walk away.
Last night he’d shaken the tree to see what fell out.
He ignored the twinge to his conscience. He’d been a little rough. He hadn’t wanted to risk her getting the drop on him. He had given her a get-out-of-jail-free pass and probably saved her life—that should count for something.
Except she hadn’t behaved as she should have. She hadn’t called her employer. She hadn’t grabbed a bag and run. Instead she’d reported the assault to the local cops and had gone in to work today. Maybe she’d been busy destroying evidence or delaying until the last possible moment before she made a mad dash for some small private airfield. Maybe she was overconfident about her abilities. Or maybe she was innocent.
It was the last “maybe” that bothered him.
As he stood in line for a ticket to the ecological park, a pretty redhead in a strappy top and high-heels eyed his neon orange T-shirt and red plaid shorts with a distasteful grimace. He’d committed a class-A felony and the fashion police were about to convict.
“Airline lost my luggage.” Killion raised his palms in a pitiful shrug, putting enough misery into his travel-worn appearance that the woman’s expression immediately shifted from disgust to empathy.
“That blows. How long ago?”
“Two days now. They swear they’ll get it to me sometime today—”
She gave a disbelieving snort. “Yeah, they once lost my luggage on a trip to Mexico and by
the time it arrived I was getting on the plane home. Worse, they refused to reimburse all the clothes I needed to buy…”
Off she went, and he was in. Phase one of this mission accomplished. He walked into the conservatory
as part of a group of American tourists, rather than as a single white guytraveling alone. They milled loosely about, looking at Lepidoptera specimens that fluttered about like giant-sized pieces of confetti.
A family of seven—five women who all looked like they’d rather be at the mall, an older man, and a teen who read every piece of information like he was cramming for a test. Killion stayed close to the stacked redhead because he looked like the kind of guy who’d stay close to a stacked redhead, but he also chatted to the others in the group, gleaning information. They were down from Florida, visiting family over Christmas. The Americans had arrived in a large minivan with an armed driver, but the driver stayed with the vehicle so they weren’t
too worried about security. In this country, staying in one spot for any length of time meant you attracted attention—and not the, “Oh my, don’t you have pretty eyes” kind of attention.
It wasn’t a good thing.
Hot sun bore down on the forest canopy that shaded the ecological park. The small interpretive center affiliated with the Amazon Research Institute attracted local schools as well as the occasional tourist, but it was Monday, January 5 and schools were closed until after Epiphany. The place was deserted except for this little band of intrepid explorers. The ground steamed and sweat beaded on his skin as his adopted people wandered slowly from enclosure to enclosure. A rivulet of perspiration soaked into his shirt.
A huge yellow butterfly drifted over his head and landed on a piece of cut fruit on the feeder tray. The redhead barely contained her squeal of excitement and took twenty pictures with her little point-and-shoot. Killion’s point-and-shoot dug into his spine and held fourteen rounds. Their group finally headed into the
amphibian enclosure where decaying damp earth mixed with traces of ammonia, and the musk of rotten leaves.
Welcome to the jungle.
His new friend grabbed his arm, pointed. “Aren’t they cute!” A minuscule, neon-yellow frog was stuck on the side of a glass tank.
“They may look cute”—said a familiar voice with just the barest hint of a Kentucky twang—“but one golden poison dart frog contains enough toxin to kill ten-to-twenty grown men.” Dr. Lockhart wore spectacles on a string around her neck and reminded him of the class nerd—the one all the guys had secretly lusted after but had been
too intimidated to ask out on a date. The professor had unusual violet-blue eyes that showed clear signs of a sleepless night. He would have felt guilty, but more than one person had told him he was a heartless bastard who didn’t have a conscience. A sociopath by any other name.
He didn’t give a shit, so they were probably right. Hell, she should be thanking him. Being tied
up and threatened sure beat the hell out of a trip to a Black Camp or a lifetime in prison—and those were the more civilized options.
Audrey Lockhart wore ubiquitous jeans over Birkenstocks and a tight white tank top that molded her breasts in a way that left little to Killion’s undeniably vivid imagination, all topped off with a thin purple shirt that she left open. She wasn’t carrying a weapon—unless she had a frog in her pocket. “I’m Dr. Lockhart, I study anurans and my specialty is the family Dendrobatidae—poison dart frogs.”
For all intents and purposes she appeared to be exactly what she said. A scientist, dedicated to
her research. He rarely trusted appearances. That’s what data analysts, surveillance, and background checks were for—not to mention interrogation.
“I thought captive ones weren’t poisonous?” Killion pointed to a little guy about an inch long that was sitting at a precarious angle on a large green leaf. The creatures didn’t look real—they looked like miniature plastic toys. They certainly didn’t look like the deadliest creatures on the planet. He placed his hand lightly on
the redhead’s back, and she sank against him, proving her taste in men was as terrible as his taste in clothes.
The professor’s eyes ran over him and his new squeeze, then away, dismissing him as just another tourist.
She didn’t recognize him from last night. There was no obvious guile in her gaze. No deception.
“You’re right in that individuals bred in captivity have no toxicity, but these specimens were
pulled straight from the nearby rainforest where they are endemic and, trust me, you wouldn’t survive a close encounter.” Her voice was husky, sexy enough to raise his awareness of her as a female rather than a target.
He’d always had a thing for voices. And nerds.
She continued, growing more serious, “It takes years for them to lose their toxicity, and even touching a paper-towel that has been in contact with the skin of these particular individuals can kill you. They are extremely dangerous.”
“Death by frog.” His smirk didn’t reach his eyes. “Bet that ain’t pretty.”
The redhead laughed. The professor did not.
“We’re very careful how we handle them.” She looked stern now, like she was the teacher and he was the naughty schoolboy. And there was his vivid imagination going nuts again.
“Have you ever seen someone die after touching one?” asked his new friend.
“Thankfully, no.” The professor’s gaze was open and sincere.
What did he expect?
Skull and crossbones instead of pupils? He’d been with the Company long enough to spot an operative with one quick glance, but this woman was an enigma. Either she was an incredible actress, or he was way off base in his assessment of the facts. Hell, maybe she was just another enviro-nut trying to save the planet—or, in this case, frogs.
“Do they taste like chicken?” he joked.
Those violet-blue eyes flashed. “I don’t know,” she bit out. “Would you like to try one?”
Ouch.
Her fiery response was hot as hell, but obviously she didn’t appreciate his sense of humor—he’d been told it was an acquired taste. He didn’t look away, instead used the opportunity to study her carefully. Her gaze was determined, but he could see fear at the edges—from the scare he gave her last night? Or did she live in constant fear, waiting for her time between the crosshairs? He didn’t figure being an assassin was particularly good for your long-term health. Someone, somewhere was always trying to tie up loose ends.

Everything After
A Standalone Rocker Romance Novel

Life is made of moments; little pieces of time.
Most pass by with little significance, while a small few have the ability to alter our entire course.

That is exactly what I’ve spent my twenty-two years on this earth trying to avoid.
For as long as I can remember my life has been mapped out; a series of events that I check off of a list. Each task leading me to the next.
Where I go, what I do, and ultimately, who I become.
I know exactly what my next steps are going to be.

At least I thought I did, until Killian Adair came crashing into my life.

The frontman for Everything After, a hot new rock band breaking out onto the scene; Killian embodies the rock star persona. With looks that have women flocking to him in droves, the only thing hotter than his appearance, is his sexy Irish accent. Unpredictable and wild, Killian and I couldn’t be more different.

One look and I knew I was in trouble.
Sometimes that’s all it takes.

That’s the funny thing about moments; just one, can change everything…

Breathe By J.L. Beck ♥ Cover Reveal

Standard
Cover Reveal for …

Title: Breathe
Author: J.L. Beck
Genre: Contemporary Romance

J.L.
Beck is the best selling author of numerous books including Indebted,
Inevitable, Invincible, and The Bittersweet Series. She’s best known for
weaving a tale, that ends with your mouth hanging open, and your hands
gripping the edge of your seat.

She’s
a no holds bar author who enjoys spending time with her husband of
seven years, three year old hellion, and Hatchi the fur baby. She calls
Wisconsin home, but loves to travel. In her free time you can catch her
watching bad reality tv, cooking, reading books, or spending time
outdoors.

When death is all you have to offer, what’s truly at risk?

Jackson
Winters is just your average twenty something year old going through
life as it throws curve ball after curve ball. I mean, nothing could be
worse than the most recent thing God has thrown his way. Instead of
living bed ridden for the rest of his days he sets out on a journey with
a bucket list in hand and need to accomplish something significant.

Avery
Masters was the ‘it’ girl of her high school. Now she’s a nobody, a
woman plagued by her own fears and guilt, praying that someday the pain
will leave her if only she could move on with her life and finally
breathe again.

They
say that you don’t truly know what life is about until you see your
life flash before your eyes. I believed that Jackson was that flash, he
had come into my life like a shooting star demolishing everything that
made me who I was in his wake. As our friendship grew, so did my
feelings. He told me not to try, that he could never be more than a
friend to me. He told me there was no way for love to form in something
that was dying… After all nothing could grow from death.

He was wrong.
I was wrong.

Neither of us realized that for things to grow, something had to die.

Two
people set out on two very different paths. One to death, and the other
to live. Love has its own way of turning even the darkest moments into
the brightest.

Breathe

When life gives you lemons squeeze them in to make lemonade. I
had always been the glass half full kind of guy. The one that would always find
a way to see the world for what it truly was; that bad days happened, and that
you could learn from your mistakes. That’s why I wasn’t really sure what lead
me to sitting in this therapist’s office. I had no meaning to be here, I
should’ve been doing something else with my time, or at least what was left of
it.
            Instead
here I sat, my eyes lingering along the white washed wall in front of me. I
couldn’t help but allow my mind to drift to the woman I ran into as I was
coming into the office. Her dark hair, the way her eyebrows puckered together
in fear. I could tell just by one look that she wasn’t living, she was a
fragile being. That something far before me had broken her.
            “How are
you feeling?” Cole asked, of course interrupting my thoughts on the brunette. I
fiddled with my fingers. How did I feel? Cold. Dead. Not yet, but I was pretty
close to it. I was one breath away from meeting my maker.
            “Being that
my family is preparing for my funeral instead of enjoying my last living months
with me, I would say not very well.” I mocked slightly, a bit annoyed by his
question.
            He smiled,
“While then, I take it things aren’t going well. Aside from that, how are you
feeling?”
            I gritted
my teeth, “Honestly, I feel cold inside.” I had never spoke the words out loud.
I had never admitted them to anyone aside from myself.
            “Why do you
feel cold?” I squeezed my fists tightly, my head starting to ache from the
anger that was forming inside of me.
            “Because
there are a million and one better things I should be doing right now. Because
my family should be here, enjoying these last moments with me, and because I
have never felt more alone now than I have since I was diagnosed with cancer.”
Silence settled over us, kind of the way snow settles onto the ground after a
heavy snow-storm.
            “I want you
to do something Jackson. Something that might just open up that coldness and
let some warmth in.” I rolled my eyes. Another exercise to test my emotions? I
had been there done that.
            “I do group
therapy twice a week. I want you to come, and I want you to bring all your
baggage with you. There are people there with just as much if not more than
yours.” I almost laughed at his words.
            “It doesn’t
get much worse than dying.” Those words weren’t a joke, but true to the bone.
There were people all around the world complaining about the way they lived
life, girls that treated there parents like crap because they couldn’t have the
latest fashion accessory. Ungrateful individuals, unaware that there were
people around them dying every second. People that would gladly take one minute
from there god forsaken lives to put back into their unbeating heart.

GRACE
For me, growing up did not imply independence. My whole life has been paved before me like a well-traveled road. My twenty-first birthday signaled the end of my father’s rule, and the beginning of my husband’s—where I am expected to churn out infinite children with a smile.

As I stare at the oversized Temple doors, weighed down by more than yards of heavy, white lace, I do what I have never done before.

I make a decision for myself.

I decide to run.

TREAD
Being in a motorcycle club is in my DNA, as is the military requirement to join. I served, I fought, and I survived the crucible of grueling training and intense combat. I returned to my club with newfound respect for right, wrong, and the shades of gray that connect them.

By day, I work at Ronin Auto, pulling things apart, fixing the problem, and putting them back together.

Grace and her nonfunctioning, little sedan prove to be a hiccup in a well-oiled machine.

Because by night, I smuggle soft felons into Mexico.
With things heating up at the border, and a missing MC family member, the last thing I need is an innocent to worry about.
But something about Grace makes me want to take apart all of her pieces to figure out how someone so beautiful has never even been kissed.

Against my better judgment, I strike a bargain with the little, blue-eyed beauty, and it changes everything I thought I knew. About women. About the club. About the man I’ve become.

excerpt

ronin

[roh-nin]

noun, plural ronin, ronins. Japanese History

  1. A samurai who no longer serves a daimyo, or feudal lord; a master-less Samurai.

My name is Tread, and I’m the lead mechanic for Ronin Auto. I’m also either one of the baddest motherfuckers you’ll ever meet, or the answer to your prayers. Just depends on which way your compass is pointing. Literally.

Most motorcycle clubs give you a handle when you prospect. My MC is different. We were given our handles at birth.

Our fathers founded the club after coming home from Panama, having participated in Operation Just Cause, to one members inherited land on New Mexico’s southern border.

After seeing what the cartels were capable of in Central America, the founding members saw the opportunity to help our country while helping themselves. They sent the mules back, but kept the drugs as their prize in a sometimes lethal game of hide and seek. They charged a king’s ransom to get wanted felons safely out of the country. By the time these men started having children, there was a legacy and a duty driving them to plan ahead.

Once the next generation was old enough to enlist we were on a bus out of town. Defended our nation’s freedom with pride. We went Airborne, Air Assault, and Special Forces, earning the pins and tabs that we would wear for the rest of our lives.

When our enlistments were up, we came back to our sleepy town with knowledge, honor, and righteous indignation. Arizona and Texas had walls, surveillance, and patrols, while the vast majority of New Mexico went unguarded still.

While we risked our lives and lost brothers to protect our people, illegals were walking onto U.S. soil with guns and drugs seemingly with the United States’ blessing. One hundred and eighty miles.Seven government run surveillance towers.

Ronin has controlled the border for over twenty years.

The second generation was born to this fight.

We became a dynasty.

Brandace and Justin Morrow have been through 10 years of the Army life, including three deployments and four children. They met in seventh grade, where they had scandalous hand-holding rendezvous in the gym before school. The courtship was brief however, only lasting a week, given his aversion to the telephone. Five years later he proposed to her on the steps of that middle school weeks before it would be demolished. Through the years, there have been laughter and tears, more time apart than together. Writing is an escape for them in an all too real world. Justin still hates the telephone.
