BLURB with buy links.

In 2230 Earth was invaded by an alien species. After years of war, the men are gone and the women are left to fight for the survival of the human race. When one of the aliens’ time travel devices is discovered a task force is formed to bring some of Earth’s most elite soldiers into the future.

Lieutenant Sunny Blake is ordered to travel back to 2125 and retrieve Lieutenant Jefferson W. Stone. Sunny can lead a squad of fighters and keep them alive, but she’s never had to deal with a man like Stone. A man whose reputation on and off the battlefield has proceeded him into the twenty-third century.

Stone has two interests. High-risk missions and lust-filled nights of pleasure with the many ladies who pursue him. Finding himself thrust into the future, where the women know how to fight but don’t know what to do with a lusty man, is the last place he’d ever want to be.

“Who are you sending to get these men?”

The General looked at Commander Mitchell. Sunny looked as well and found her staring back at her.

“we have four teams,” Commander Mitchell said. “Each team has been assigned a historian advisor and a medical team. You, Lieutenant Blake, are Alpha team. You’re going back for the first warrior in two days’ time. Your historian will give you the information you need to rescue him. Once you get him back here the medical team and the Council will take over. If he decides to stay he’ll be assigned to your squad. We expect the men we save to help us bring back more soldiers and supplies while we familiarize them with our world. Any other questions?”

“Yes, ma’am,” Sunny said. “Who am I retrieving?”

“Jefferson W. Stone,” Commander Mitchell said.

“The twenty-third? The one who died in 2125?” Sunny had to work hard to keep the excitement from her voice.

Commander Mitchell nodded. “We thought it was appropriate to choose him first since this is the twenty-third century.”

General Davis stood. “Lieutenant Blake, get some rest and report to your historian at zero six hundred. At this time, we’ve covered everything and you’re all dismissed.”

Sunny and the other lieutenants saluted then left the room. Once they were out of sight of the Council chambers the squad leaders surrounded Sunny and the ribbing began.

“Wow! Jefferson W. Stone the Twenty-third! Your all-time huge crush!” Kelby Barker said, then laughed.

Before Sunny could answer, Ginny Johnson piped up, “According to his biography you’re his type. Tall and curvy with big,” she held her hands at her chest then moved them out several inches and laughed.

“Maybe we should put her in a chastity belt. We might have one in storage somewhere,” Lieutenant Jo Miller said.

“There’s no need,” Sunny said.

“No need? He’s all you ever talked about after you saw his picture in his biography,” Lieutenant Dean said. “And, by the way, we know you tore his picture out of the book.”

“You can’t prove that.” Sunny laughed. “Remember I’ve read his biography‐.”

“You mean you’ve practically memorized it,” Jo said.

“I prefer to say I’ve studied his book but either way I know his secrets. I think I can handle him.” The initial excitement she’d felt was sinking in and becoming a reality. What would it be like to stand next to him? To be able to reach out and touch him? A man from the past that she’d never dreamt she’d meet much less have a chance to get to know. Stone was a man’s man and he’d appeared in most of her dreams for the last eleven years.

“The book says a lot of women have handled him,” Lieutenant Douglas said then winked and added, “Or rather he handled them.”

“They say when he died, the women he made love to grieved for him for the rest of their lives,” Lieutenant Dean said with an envious heartfelt sigh.

“Bull crap,” Sunny said. “They probably said good riddance, got married, and never gave him another thought.”

Ginny laughed. “Well, just in case we get lucky, and he’s as horny and energetic as his biography says, I’m going to the clinic to see if they have any kind of contraceptives.”

“I’ll come with you,” Kelby said.

“Me, too.” Jo said then looked at Sunny. “Coming?”

“No and all of you need to remember I called dibs on Stone ten years ago. So hands off, ladies.”

“That was just a game we played at your sixteenth birthday party,” Jo said.

“Too bad. Dibs are dibs,” Sunny said. “Jo, you claimed Calder Campbell. Ginny you claimed Blade Lawrence and Kelby you claimed Gideon Williams. I’m enforcing the claim on Stone.”

“Spoilsport,” Ginny said.

Sunny laughed and hurried away while inside one phrase repeated in her mind‐hot damn, I’m going to meet Jefferson Wakefield Stone in the flesh!

Excerpt:

My hand slips from his and I make my way to the kitchen. I look at the bottle and back

to my glass for a moment before putting the bottle to my lips. The wine fills my mouth,

and I gulp it down hoping it will drown the emotions swirling within me. But the lump

in my throat remains and grows larger with every pull off the bottle. The more I

swallow, the more it feels like I’m choking. I lower the bottle, letting it thunk on the

counter top, and try to breathe through the panic attack building inside of me.

“I was infatuated with you.”

The rumble of his voice makes me clutch the counter, my breath caught in my chest. As

much as I want to know, I can’t listen to it right now. It’s all too much to take in when I’m

still coming to terms with what Phil did to me.

“The longer I watched you, the more I was drawn to you,” he continues, his voice

getting closer. “You learn a lot about people when they don’t know you’re looking.” My

back warms as the heat of his body gets closer. He places his hands on the counter,

trapping me between his arms. “Want to know what I learned about you?”

I stare down at the counter, thankfully hidden by the curtain of hair falling around my

face, and shake my head. Cash’s slight stubble on his jaw rubs against the side of my

face as he leans closer, his chest grazing my back. His heart beats a rhythm that mine

recognizes and tries to keep in tune with. I’d rather face Phil right now, because at least I

know where I stand with him.

“You are selfless,” he says, disregarding me. “You’re happiest when those around you are

happy. You have this need to help others without getting anything in return. But you’re

too prideful to let anyone in and help you when you need it most. You push people away

by putting the focus back on them and deal with shit that you shouldn’t have to deal with

alone. And you do it all with the most beautiful smile I have every seen.” His arms drape

gently around me, and he rests his head against mine. “It’s hard to find genuinely good

people in the world,” he whispers. “Trust me, I know. I’ve spent my life watching people

selfishly choose their needs over others. And I turned into one of them.”

Cash turns me around and cups the side of my face lifting it up to his. “I didn’t want this

to happen. I wanted to do my job and come home. But I couldn’t stop thinking about

you. I wanted what you gave everyone else freely. So I selfishly took it. I needed to see

you smile at me like that and know I was the reason for it. And when you did, I couldn’t

get enough.” He searches my eyes as he bares his heart to me. His mouth hovers over

mine, bathing my lips in the warmth of his whiskey-scented breath with every word. “I

wanted more. I thought I’d get it and walk away from you when this was over. But

there’s a piece of me that thinks I deserve this…” His lips brush against mine

tormentingly as the shaky words fall from his lips. “That I deserve you.”

The Fragile Line Part One TEXT HERE
The Fragile Line: Part One
Synopsis
Recommended for ages 18+ due to strong language and sexual content.

Chloe McCarthy thought she had found the perfect guy. Someone just as detached as she was when it came to love and commitment. Someone who never pressured her for more than just sex. But when she gets a little too comfortable with their arrangement, and he rejects her for someone else, it triggers heartbreaking memories that leave her questioning her resolve for a commitment-free life. In a moment of self-pity, she calls on the one person who she knows will make her smile.

Matt Langston lives a drama-free life, and he wants to keep it that way. Chloe McCarthy? All drama. Which is why he needs to stay away from her. A mechanic by day and bouncer by night, he tries to focus on work, but the more he tries, the more she creeps into his thoughts and his dreams, until he realizes that he needs to get her out of his system once and for all.

The Fragile Line is a spin-off to The Fine Line, told in an addicting three-part romance novella series, with each part building on the last. The series may be read alone, however, reading The Fine Line first will provide a further introduction to the characters which may enhance the overall reading experience

The Fragile Line Part One Stockholm
“Is it everything you hoped it would be?”  Chloe asked, as I took a bite of the most
delicious bread I have ever tasted.
This bread was so good that the garlicy, buttery, orgasmic
masterpiece of flavor in my mouth forced a long moan out of my throat.  “Oh, yeah.”
I mumbled with the bread still in my cheek.  “This is fucking incredible.”
The dark wooden table of our window booth was dimly lit by
an overhanging lamp with a red shade.
For a small restaurant, Ricci’s had an inviting, casual atmosphere
complete with old-time Italian music.  At
this time of night, there were only a few other diners scattered about.  I would imagine the place would be closing up
soon for the evening.
She leaned in and whispered, “What if I told you I know how
to make it?”
That caught my attention…enough to stop chewing.  “Don’t tease me, woman.”
She leaned back and huffed in exasperation. “God, why are
you so macho?  The name’s Chloe.  CH-L-O-EEE.”
I chuckled.  “If you
say so.  I’ve gotta hear this.  How do you know how to make the bread?”
“I dated one of the cooks when I worked here.” She shrugged
and took a bite of bread.
Should’ve known that.
But really?  Was that all she was
going to give me?  “And…did the recipe
just osmose from his brain to yours on a date?”
She gave me the stink eye.
“I told him I’d only go out with him if he gave me the recipe.  So he did.
And we went on a date.  And that
was it.”
“Lemme guess.  He
wasn’t your type.”
She shook her head.
“I don’t really have a type.  I
like variety.”
I nodded with raised brows, keeping my mouth shut about the
fact that she just fed into her promiscuous reputation.  Was she doing it on purpose?  Did she actually want people to think she was
easy?  She seemed okay tonight.  Why did part of me want to believe her rep was
BS?
“What about you?” she asked.
“How come I never see you with any girls?”
“I could ask you the same thing.  Why no steady boyfriend?  You’re sexy as hell.  If you dropped the bitch act, you could
easily land some dude if you wanted to.”
There went my word vomit.
So much for keeping my mouth shut.
Luckily, she didn’t seem offended this time.
Instead, she forced out a humorless laugh. “Yeah, just not
the one I want.”
I cocked a brow.
She rolled her eyes and took a sip of her lemonade.
“Maybe it’s not an act,” she continued.
I nodded in thought.
“Or, maybe it is.  You seem pretty
cool now.  Not clingy or—” What’s a nice
way to say ‘easy’? “—overly accessible.
It’s a nice change.  You should do
it more often.”
Her face scrunched up.
“Maybe I just don’t like you.”
“Or.  Maybe you like
me more than you think.”  I winked.
The waiter came with our plates, a Sirloin Marsala for me
and a spaghetti with meatballs for her.
After grating Parmesan cheese over her plate, he asked the typical
waiter question, “Is there anything else I can get for you two?”
I answered instantly, “More bread.”
The kid, who must’ve been fifteen or sixteen, eyed our full
basket of bread, then looked back at me with a quizzical look on his face which
kind of pissed me off.  I mean, I
would’ve eaten it all up already if he wouldn’t have been so quick with our
meals.  And I wanted leftovers.
“Please,” I said calmly.
“O…kay?  I’ll be back
with that in a minute.”
Dipshit.
The steak was even better than the bread.  It literally melted in my mouth.  Chloe laughed when I moaned again at the
taste, and I smiled, knowing that my mission for the night had just been
accomplished.
We savored our meals quietly for a few minutes before she
broke the silence, continuing our conversation.
“Maybe I’m not interested in anything serious with anyone.  Maybe taking what I want and being…less than
nice…is the best way to make sure they don’t get all googly with me.”
“What the hell does ‘googly’ mean?”
“Come on, you know.”
I shook my head no.
“It’s the lovey-dovey look in someone’s eyes.  Whether it’s a boy or girl, man or woman, we
all do it.  It’s the way someone looks at
you when they want you to think they’re falling for you.  They look at you with ‘googly-eyes.’”
“Ha!  You seem like an
expert.  Maybe your nickname should be
‘heartbreaker.’”
“Yeah, right.  I’ve
only gotten that look from one person.
And I’m not the one who did the heart breaking in that situation.”
I nodded in understanding.
It couldn’t have been Logan.  He’s
never felt that way about her.  My
curiosity piqued.  “First love?”
“Yeah, I guess you could say that.”
She continued stuffing spaghetti into her face as if this
conversation were over.  I cleared my
throat to get her attention.  It worked
because she looked up from her plate with a WTF look.  “Go on, Pink, spill it.  You know you want to.”
She laughed again.
Just a small one, but a laugh nonetheless.  It took her another moment before she finally
started to talk.

About the author

courtney lane

COURTNEY LANE has been creating her own little world since she was very young.

While many of her works touch several different genres, she has an archetype when it comes to the female protagonists in her stories — they have to have certain brand of strength, be deeply flawed, and harbor layered personalities. In her books you will find themes that reflect the darker side of life with a tremendous amount of depth and complexity. She also has an affinity for characters that aren’t necessarily the girl or boy next door, or the people you’d encounter in everyday life. In other words, she prefers to explore characters who aren’t easy to fall in love with.

Currently, Courtney can be found either working on her next book, playing the latest role-playing game on her X-Box (preferably a game by BioWare), or spending time with her family.

To Live Again

After getting out of the shower, I finish my morning routine. Taking in a breath, I know it’s time. I have to look in the mirror to check my appearance before I can leave the bathroom. I slowly raise my head and look, hoping that I can do it quickly without really having to notice my eyes. But, as usual, I stare into my reflection for a moment. I see the dark circles and notice that my violet eyes look the way they usually do, like I have no soul, because really I don’t; not anymore.
I know there is nothing I can do to change it, so I turn around and leave the bathroom and go off to start another new semester at Rice University. Pulling into the student parking lot, I find a place to park. I breathe deeply, relax my face muscles, and pull on the smiling mask that everyone expects of me and go looking for my class.
I am double majoring in Sociology and Psychology since I hope to become a social worker. Because of this, I am always looking to take classes that will help me understand what people are going through and how they react to dire situations. My first class on my new schedule will definitely help with that. It’s called Psychology 305: Death and Dying-Understanding the Grieving Process.
As I make my way across the parking lot, it occurs to me that it’s sort of ironic that I’m taking this class. Maybe I will get some insight into myself and finally some closure. Yeah right, and maybe I will sleep until 5:50 in the morning. Shaking my head in disgust, I square my shoulders and open the door, looking for my favorite seat…1st row, 3rd seat, closest to the door.
Immediately, I see it is already taken by a very large, very beautiful boy. Holy hell and hotness. He’s so gorgeous, but he is in my seat, so hot or not, he’s going to have to move it. If he doesn’t, at least I will have had a chance to talk to him and look at him; yeah, I’m so objectifying him right now. I bet feminism just slid back a couple of centuries, but surely women everywhere will understand when they get a load of what I’m seeing.
Even so, I walk up to his desk and as he looks up at me, I see the most gorgeous green eyes and black hair. Green eyes are my weakness and he is certainly no exception. I am standing there just staring at him so I know I have to act like I’m not affected by him at all. It’s kind of written in the girl code handbook that we can’t let hot guys know how they affect us, right?
Keeping this in mind, I look at him and say, “Excuse me, you’re in my seat.”
He laughs and says, “No sweetheart, I’m in my seat.”
I roll my eyes and move to the next seat over. A few seconds later, he taps me on the shoulder and says, “Hey, I’m Jayson or Jase, which ever you would like to call me.”
I glare at him and ask, “So? What makes you think I am going to call you anything?” He just winks at me and smiles a devastating smile. “If you want this seat, the price is introducing yourself.”
Feeling like something big is happening, I reach out my hand and say, “Hi, I’m Chloe Schaeffer.”
As our hands touch, I feel a spark of electricity and we both look at each other in a shocked way. We sit there for a second, staring at each other, with clasped hands. Jerking my hand back, I stand and wait as he gets up to exchange seats with me while feeling a little bad that I made such a big deal about a desk.
When he stands up, I look up at him and it’s a long way up there. He has black hair that looks like he either ran his hands through it a bunch of times or he just naturally has that sexy fall out of bed look. You know the kind people pay stylists a ton of money to get? Not to mention the green eyes, I know I already did, but God can you blame me?
I keep ogling him and the view just gets better and better. He has on a RU t-shirt and faded jeans that fit him just right paired with black Harley boots. But the best thing of all is his mouth. His lips are full and gorgeous and look like they’re made for sinning and I definitely want to be the first to fall from grace. I snap back to myself when I see him just standing there. I think he is secretly laughing at me so now I don’t feel so bad about stealing his seat.
The professor comes into the room and as he begins droning on and on about death, I keep sneaking peeks over at my sexy neighbor and C-R-A-P, crap, he just caught me checking him out. He looks back at me and winks. I immediately blush and look away and it hits me that for a moment, I forgot the hell that is my life.
This is Living

Carrying me over to the small bed, he starts to lay me down; however I refuse to let go of him.

“Wait, are these sheets clean? Who else has been in this bed?”

I feel his chest moving against me and I know he is trying not to laugh out loud. Punching him in the arm, I say, “Don’t laugh at me; you know how I am! I just don’t want to be lying in someone else’s stuff.”

“Well, I’m the only one that’s been on shift the last two days, so you don’t have anything to worry about.”

Are you sure about that? I shut my eyes at the thought that crossed my mind because just the idea of it makes me want to hurl. I open my eyes and he is just staring at me with an odd look on his face.

“Why are you looking at me like that,” I ask in a quiet panic. Surely, he doesn’t know what I was just thinking.

“You tell me. Why did you shut your eyes with a pained look on your face and hesitate when I said it was only me that’s been using this bed?”

His ability to read me has me at a loss for words. I start to answer, but then shut my mouth. I’m not sure what to say that isn’t going to sound like an accusation. Maybe I should just say what’s been bothering me, then he can reassure me and we’ll move on.

“Uh, I don’t know. You haven’t been home for two days and didn’t call, plus you only texted when I texted first. I just thought…” Good one, Chloe, that didn’t sound accusatory at all.

Pulling away from me, he walks over to where he left his scrubs and starts to get dressed. “Wait, what are you doing?”

With his jaw clenched and eyes flashing, he shakes his head. “Get dressed, Chloe. Go home. I will talk to you later.”

“Go home? For your information, I’m not some child you get to send away. I cannot believe you just said that to me.”

“I don’t know what to say to you. I haven’t looked at another woman since the day I laid eyes on you. You can say a lot of things about me, but cheating isn’t one of them.”

Shit, shit, shit! This is not what I wanted. Why the hell didn’t I listen to Madison? “I didn’t mean anything by what I said. I was just stating that I haven’t seen you in a while.”

“It sure as hell sounds like you were accusing me of cheating on you. Is that really what you think I’ve been doing the past couple of days?”

He looks so angry and I hate it more than anything. I don’t do well with confrontation and this is even worse than usual.

Instead of reassuring him, I’m standing there frozen, unable to speak. When he sees I’m not going to answer, he slams his hand down on a locker while cursing.

“Jayson, you are putting words in my mouth,” I finally manage to say.

Feeling exposed, I began yanking my clothes on. It’s obvious nothing is going to happen here and I’m not standing here naked while he yells at me.

“Ok, then tell me what you were thinking and don’t lie to me. I’m really fucking pissed right now so tell me that I’m wrong.”

Without waiting for an answer, he yells, “No, I’m not pissed, I’m fucking hurt that you would think so little of me. All these years and nothing has changed, has it?”

“Stop this now,” I tell him in a shaky voice.

“We need to both take a step back and take a breath before we say something we can’t take back. You haven’t called or come home, so yes, I was feeling a bit insecure. I also may have let my emotions and my brain run away from me, but don’t you EVER accuse me by saying nothing has changed. You know that’s not true. I think I will go home. This is not the place or time to discuss issues such as these and I’m not going to stand here and scream back and forth like some characters on a reality show just to get my point across.”

I can see my words are hitting home with him and now I’m the angry one. I never came out and accused him of cheating on me. You sure didn’t say that he hadn’t when he asked you, did you? I ruthlessly tamp down on these thoughts because while we are both in the wrong here, one of us has to walk away. If it has to be me, then so be it.

He’s still standing in front of the door and as I near him, I can see the tired lines of his face. I hate that he is so exhausted. I hate that we fought with such hateful words…this is the worst fight we’ve ever had…even more so than when I left him sitting in a restaurant 9 years ago. When I reach him, I wrap my arms around his waist and rest my head on his chest. His body is stiff against mine, but finally he wraps his arms around me and squeezes.

“I’m sorry I hurt you. I was freaked out when I didn’t hear from you last night and you didn’t come home this morning. Then, when I got here, the new nurse acted strangely when I asked for you.”

He doesn’t let go, but neither does he respond, so I look up at him and wink, trying to get him in a better mood. “This is where you apologize on bended knee. And then let me out of the deal that says I might have to give any money back for swearing.”

Bending down, he places his forehead against mine and says, “I’m sorry, too…for everything. I’m exhausted and I have a bitch of a headache.”

I close the distance and kiss him in reply. “I love you.”

He mumbles, “Me, too, I have to go.”

Suddenly he lets go of me and turns to open the door. All I can think of is that he didn’t say I love you back, just “me, too.”

Before walking out, he stops and presses his forehead against the door while I stand awkwardly behind him. I’m not sure what is going on, but something is. Though it’s killing me, it’s still not the time to talk about it or spring any other news on him. I place my hand in his and wait.

“What is that?” he interrupted.

“What’s what?” she questioned looking around.

“That thing on your plate,” his voice was groggy. A deep scratching that somehow appealed to her.

“It’s a cronut.”

“A what?”

“A cronut. You know; part croissant, part donut; the perfect combination of flaky and sweet,” she laughed.

Selene Cavalier spent the majority of her time behind her

cello. Her dull life was made up of dark notes, hard work and sheet music.

Bennett Monterosso did what he had to do to get his family’s

winery up and running. He didn’t have time for his old ways. His quiet

dominance had been silenced. His need was just waiting below the surface, until

now.

BENEATH THE VINE

Having her—it was all he could think about as he watched the

young woman behind the cello.

Gage Calibri left his best friend, his home and his

tarnished past five years ago. He suppressed his darker tastes, his physical

appetites, and his secrets until he no longer had a choice.

It only took one night for these three lives to collide and

to be altered forever.

This wasn’t what they were expecting. This wasn’t who she

was. Each moment they sank deeper, each minute they felt more, each second they

took her further.

Unhinged… restrained… this obsession… this love… it was all

consuming.

Prologue

Never trust yourself…

in a man’s bed. That moment when everything is falling out from under you, it’s

like pure fluid sound. The ache abates, your heart hammers, your voice shakes,

and becomes something treacherous. It belies who you were before he made you

feel something greater than God. It’s as if the heat of your body will never

cool without his hands. Don’t believe his whispered words, the chill along your

skin a blue lit fired flame. Don’t allow yourself to make him any promises;

don’t let yourself begin to think everything will always be this good.

It’s a ruse.

You’re just his last

breath.

Lust is a liar… and

love takes victims.

The light was dim,

the soft, quiet sound of music sifting through the room. The familiar

smell of cedar wood and sage made the fiction easier to swallow, made

everything seem just as it should be as I moved through the apartment.

The muggy copper

scent of horror hit me just as I walked past the kitchen.

“Selene.”

His tone was flat…

stark… no man should ever look so broken.

My tear filled eyes

on the gun, I reached into the empty space between us. “Don’t.”

GET TO KNOW YOU INTERVIEW

Your books are so

emotional. How long does it take for you to be able to get the characters out

of your mind and move on to the next?

I’ve noticed with

each book I write, the harder it is to Detach. Beneath The Vine has been the

hardest book for me to walk away from. But, I am currently working on a another

piece under a different Pen =)

Are the names of the

characters in your novels important?

Yes! Most if not all

the names are people in my life, or people who have impacted it =) Not always

though. Cole from Pressure… I don’t know a Cole Unfortunately.

What are the most

important attributes to remaining sane as a writer?

Oreos and caffeine

What is the most

demeaning thing said about you as a writer?

In a review, I had

someone personally attack me. Reviews should be constructive.

How do you react to a

bad review of one of your books?

If it’s constructive,

I’ll probably cry, eat large quantities of oreos and then pull up my big girl

panties and take the advice given, and hopefully be better next time =)

What was the hardest

part of writing your book?

Beneath the Vine was

in Three POVs. It was hard keeping that timeline and structure I had in my

head.

Did you learn

anything from writing your book and what was it?

That I was able to

get through such an emotional roll-coaster. This book about ruined me.

Is there a message in

your novel that you want readers to grasp?

You can’t always get

what you want, and love is always more important than how many orgasm a guy

gives you =) Sometimes… 😉

Beneath The Vine t1

Have you ever read or

seen yourself as a character in a book or a movie?

I like to pretend I’m

Elizabeth Bennett on most occasions.

COVERS: What gave you

the idea?

Francesca Webster did

my cover for Beneath the Vine. I wanted the suspense to be felt and still add

an element important to the story, which is Selene’s Music.

“B.J. Harvey delivers a witty, humorous romance with a dose of angst just to give it that edge.” – Goodreads Reviewer

“Highly recommended – another incredible read for BJ Harvey!” – The Closer Book Junkie

“BJ Harvey is at her best with these characters, as much beloved now as they were in her first book.” – Goodreads Reviewer

“Have you ever measured it?” I ask with a grin, as his eyes grow wide.

“No,” he replies with an awkward laugh, totally giving himself away. “Why would I? It does the job,” he says, sounding defensive.

“Well it certainly doesn’t stop short, does it?”

He rolls me onto my back and hovers over me. “It always rises to the challenge.”

I wrap my arms around his shoulders and glide my fingers through his hair. “It’s a hard job, but somebody’s got to do it.”

“I’m inches above the rest.”

“There’s stiff competition,” I add, lifting my hips to deepen the friction.

“There’s no contest, Legs. I’m the biggest you’ll ever have.”

“Will I, though? Should I have it . . . again?” I whisper.

“It would be poor form to leave me in such a state, Legs.”

“It would, wouldn’t it?” I muse. “I must stay strong, rigid even . . .”

“I think that’s my job. Besides, it might be bad for my health to stay in this state.” He lowers his forehead to mine, his eyes boring into me with such carnal heat, it’s a wonder I don’t spontaneously combust.

“Blue bean is just as real as blue balls, you know. I read about it in Cosmo.”

He chuckles, his shaking body sending delicious vibrations throughout my body. “We can’t have that now, can we?”

His lips brush over mine, so soft and gentle. My body flushes in anticipation of what I hope will be amazing sex with a very sexy—and talented—guy. “I believe it’s time I proved my worth.”
