Turning slowly to face him, I can see that his eyes are still
closed, but his mouth is tipped up into a smile which radiates freedom. I’ve
never seen him look so carefree. He looks as if his sins of the past are
washing away with the punishing rain.

Shooting a glare at him, I throw my hands up in exasperation. “Are you telling me that this whole anticipation thing is one-sided? Is it that easy for you to resist? I really need to step up my game.”

Xavier’s eyes fall to my lips for a quick moment before he looks back up at me. I see the desire in his expression, and without him even saying a word, I know he wants this, too. So why is he making me wait?

“You have no idea how much I want to kiss you right now. How many times I’ve thought of doing just that. Every time you were curled up against me on the couch, I wanted to kiss you. Stella just takes you and when you add Zoe in the mix these two explode off the pages. Aww we can’t forget Blake, alpha man that you love but want to walk up to and tell him to get his crap together! Blake and Stella push their feeling for each other aside till they can’t anymore. Zoe goes through an event that pushes Stella and Blake together. They fight against the draw that both have and do some pretty harsh things to each other. The road they all find themselves on brings you to your knees and has you wondering can they find the happiness they deserve.

One read you can’t put down!

They say life is about choices. You spend your life making decisions and dealing with the consequences, whether they are positive or negative. In my tumultuous frame of mind, I make a choice. A very poorly thought out choice, but one that I have to live with, nevertheless.

As soon as Cassidy finishes her encore, I tell the girls that we’re going backstage to meet the singer. They follow behind the private elevator to the lower level of the Chi Center, talking giddily. I push their voices out of my mind, leading them with long, purposeful strides.

There are perks to owning the joint. The security guards clear the way for me, knowing not to bother me when I’m in a foul mood.
With a short knock, I push my way into Cassidy’s crowded backstage room. The moment she lays her fake-eyelash covered gaze on me, she squeals. The sound hurts my ears, but I pretend it doesn’t.

Island. She spent her young adult years moving as far away as she
could from her large extended family. She lived in Boston, Paris,
Orlando, New York–then came full circle and moved back to Rhode
Island. She now happily lives one town over from the one she was born
in. For her, family trumped the warmer weather and international
scene.

She was an educator
for 20 years, the last 11 as a kindergarten teacher. When her school
district began cutting jobs, Ruth turned a serious eye toward her
second love- writing and has never been happier. When she’s not
writing, you can find her chasing her children around her small farm,
riding her horses, or connecting with her readers online.
