“Are you nervous right now?”

I nod.

“Tell me why.” His demand, steady and calm, gives me the courage I need to tell him. To open a vein and bleed my insecurities.

“I’m not perfect,” I whisper.

“And neither am I, Willow. I don’t want perfect. What so many see as perfect, to me, is fake. Perfect isn’t achievable naturally. No one, and I mean no one, is perfect.”

I’m shaking my head before he’s even done speaking, but one long finger comes up and presses against my lips before I can speak.

“No, let me finish. There isn’t beauty in perfection. It’s as fake as the image the word projects. Beauty is found in imperfection, Willow, because to admit you’re not perfect means you’re admitting you’re not whole and absolute. When I think of myself, I see someone willing to admit he’s as far from complete as it gets because, in order to get to that perfection, I need to find the other part of me who will make my life better. To take all the faults I have and fill them, and only then will I be there. You see, the way I see it, the only way to become perfect is to find that perfectly imperfect person who brings it out of you.”

When he stops, I swear I might have stopped breathing. How am I supposed to respond to that?

“Do you trust me?” he asks, his voice strong and sure.

“Yes, Kane. Nerves or not, I do.”

“Then let me show you what I see when I look at you.”

He brings his hands up, framing my face once again in a way I’m quickly becoming addicted to the feeling of. His warm eyes implore, begging me without words to let him continue. I do not intend to stop him, regardless of the butterflies currently taking over my system. I’m all in.

The rest of the day passes quickly and then I’m on my way home, when I get in I start preparing dinner so that when Felix comes home his dinner is ready. “It was a lady that interviewed me.” I say during sobs. “There is nothing wrong with my top and what gives you the right to say that to me anyway?” Obviously that was the wrong thing to say as he gets up from his chair and strides over to my side of the table, grabs my ponytail and pulls it so hard that I have to look up at him. “YOU are my wife and no one else will look at you with lust in their eyes, only I’m allowed to do that.” He lets go of my hair, walks back to his chair, sits down and resumes eating his dinner. I’m sitting there with my mouth open staring at him with tears running down my face. I don’t know what to say, so I just sit there. He looks at me then says “Go and wipe your face you look a mess.”

I get up from the table, go out of the room to the downstairs toilet and sob silently. What the hell just happened out there? I clean my face, then go and sit back at the table. I’m not hungry now so I just sit there with my head bowed down. I don’t want to look at him!

“So babe, tell me about the interview, how did it go?” he says still eating his dinner. Is he serious? “Come on tell me!” he’s starting to shout!

So I tell him about Blue Eye and Helen, the HR Manager and about the three stages of interviews. I tell him I’m really excited about this job and that I loved the company. He sits there nodding his head at me and asking a few questions. “I have another interview with Clifton Associates, a Facilities Company tomorrow, the job looks good too, but I think today’s job would be better all round” I say waiting for him to say something.

“Sounds good, let’s see what happens, good luck tomorrow” he says. He stands up, puts his plate in the sink and says “I’m going to watch TV” and walks out the room.
He’s being so weird, normally the two of us would do the dishes and chat about the day and what’s ahead for the week.

She is a mother to two young children, who in turn keep her young. She lives in Dublin, Ireland, but she’s originally from South Devon in the UK. She works full time in a pharmacy and writes in all her spare time, in her lunch hour, when watching TV at night and anywhere the urge takes her.

My mind drifts back to the day Jesse said good-bye to me.

The day he came here to pick up Scout.

Scout was tickled to death to see him after being away all summer. She had asked about Mama

I nodded, hoping that I could hold back the tears that threatened to spill. Jesse acted as if he

didn’t notice. “I have something for you,” he said, reaching into the pocket of his jeans.

He handed me a small box. Inside was a heart-shaped locket on a gold chain. The locket was

the kind that can hold a tiny picture. There wasn’t a picture in this one.

“I reckon you’ll be breaking hearts soon enough. That locket is for you to put a picture of your

true love inside, that way you’ll always have him close to your heart.”

He hugged me, and I thanked him feeling like I’d never see him again. I waited until he and

Scout where just a spec on the horizon before I went upstairs to my room and let the flood gates

open.

I feel this book has a great story plot. The story takes a little while to take off and get in to the thick of the story. I also felt that the story repeated it’s on that background of the main characters. This is a well written book. I loved the description of things from beat sheets to how the room looked, you feel like you are right there see what they are.

Jess is hiding from her pass and Hunter is trying to keep from losing his. They both have broke pieces to them. They both have a very strong attraction to each other can they find the right road that will bring them to happiness or will what the have crump!

I am looking forward to reading more from Samantha I think she has a lot of talent.

“I’m not in trouble. Really, I’m not. I mean who would want to kill me? I know bankers aren’t exactly popular—” she lets loose a shaky laugh “—but I’m harmless.”
Harmless? Not sure about that. Jess sends my heart racing, makes my skin clammy. She’s driving me insane. Harmless? No way.
“What do you want me to do?” I ask.
“Do?”
“Shall I stick around?”
“Oh. No, you don’t need to do that.”
“I don’t mind.”
“I’m fine. Seriously. Thank you for today. You must be tired and I bet your side hurts.”

We’re divided by the invisible line between the corridor and her room. I can’t help thinking of it as symbolic. We’re divided by secrets and lies.
Not that any of that matters once our lips connect. I swear I’ve never wanted to kiss a woman so much. Kisses are about the end game. But not with Jess. I want to drown in her kisses, to kiss her all day and see if I ever tire of them. I suspect it’s unlikely.
