I woke up to my lower half on fire.

At first, I thought it was just an aftereffect of my dreams, but when I finally peeled my eyes open, I could smell smoke.

When I opened my lids and looked down, it was to literally find my panties on fire.

I screamed and rolled; rolling so far in the bed that I hit the floor and kept going.

By the time the fire was finally out, my panties were burned to ash. However, my skin was perfectly fine. In fact, the hairs that I’d planned on having waxed later in the week were gone.

“What the fuck?” I yelled, staring down at my now hair-free mound.

“Light, light, light,” I chanted, shifting through the things on the floor.

My candles that I had interspersed around the room all lit at once, and I screamed.

“What the hell is going on?” I shrieked.

Macy started hammering on the wall, or her boyfriend. Whatever. Fuck her.

I narrowed my eyes at the wall.

That stupid heifer! I’m allowed to scream if I want to. She fucks day and night, and she’s going to bang on my wall to get meto quiet down?

Master Farrow has always had excellent stamina with the ladies.

I froze, turning around and scanning the room.

“Who’s there?” I asked nervously.

A deep, rumbly laugh filled my head and my eyes widened.

“Holy mother of God, get out of my head!” I yelled.

The voice in my head continued to chuckle. Oh, this is almost as good as when Prince Keifer came into his powers. He didn’t shriek like you do, though.

She’d turned on her heel and begun to walk toward my office door when without a second thought I hooked her around the waist and pulled her body back against my own. She yelped, but I didn’t let it halt me.

The smell of her perfume mixed with her shampoo filled my nostrils, and for a moment I just took in the fragrance. I had never smelled anything more appealing. “Let me prove it to you,” I whispered. She was tense in my arms, and I knew I needed to tread lightly. “I don’t lie, and I don’t hide the way I feel.” I closed my eyes tightly and tipped my head just enough that her hair brushed against the tip of my nose. God, her scent was pure heaven. “I want you, Kiera,” I confessed, becoming lost in her presence, lost to the feel of my body pressed tightly against hers. “I know that seems to terrify you, but I need you to know. I won’t stay away; I can’t. I want to feel you against me, hold you close, and hear the sound of your pants in my ear. I won’t lie to you, Kiera,” I reiterated. “I won’t ever lie to you.”

I pressed a soft kiss against the base of her neck, and for a moment she went stock-still. As if she was terrified of what I may do next. That thought left a bad feeling in my stomach. Did she actually think I would force her to do anything she wasn’t completely willing to do?

I slowly released her, stepping back to put some space between us. My own heart was racing, and she wasn’t the only one that needed some distance.

She kept her back to me as we both remained perfectly still, just calmly breathing. I didn’t speak for fear of spooking her. I’d already told her my intentions. I hoped that was enough.

And when she reached for the door, pulled it open, and walked out without looking back, I felt like she took a part of me with her. I sagged in disappointment as I listened to the fading sound of her heels clicking against the tile floor.

“Are you high?” Decker asked.

“What? No? Why would you ask me that? Not like it’s any of your fucking business if I was,” I shot back at him, whipping my sunglasses off my face.

“Great, now that I have your attention, how about you let me know if you need to stop anywhere before getting to your destination. I’ll keep it simple for you … a head nod or some sort of gesture will suffice,” he teased.

“I’ve got a gesture for you,” I went back at him. I flipped him off, but down low where I thought he wouldn’t see it.

“Ahh, dammit.” He gave an exaggerated frown. “Frank bet me twenty bucks you’d give me some inappropriate answer or gesture within the first three minutes of meeting. I bet him you wouldn’t. I’m a benefit of the doubt kind of guy. You almost made it. Two minutes and thirty three seconds.” He picked up this phone and showed me the stopwatch timer.

“Just drive, please.” I put my glasses on, and a small laugh escaped my lips.

“There we go. See, isn’t that better than being a cranky pants?” In the rear view, I could see a hint of playfulness in his eyes. “You‘re in Miami. It’s beautiful.”

“Yes, you‘re one hundred percent correct, so much better. Now go.” Again letting out a small laugh. I failed miserably at my attempt to be demanding.

“What’s the magic word?”

Holy shit, man. You‘re like the worst employee of all employees on this planet. Please drive me somewhere besides crazy.” I begged.

“There we go. Another milestone. You survived being pleasant.” He began to drive off.

I didn’t begin writing until after undergraduate college. There’d been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can’t blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I’m hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! Writing erotic romance is the most fun I’ve ever had. (Well, except for the research.)

Many of my books are set in Washington, DC, where I lived and worked many years, running a public relations firm. In my PR career I’ve been fortunate to encounter or represent some of the city’s powerful insiders. I write, tweet and post under my pseudonym, Elizabeth SaFleur, since my clients might be a little shocked at how their counselor spends her free time. Then again, perhaps they’d fear they provided inspiration. (I’ll never tell.)

Today, I live in Virginia with my husband and furry child. Occasionally I’m separated from my laptop to indulge in dance classes and visit wineries and hiking trails with family and friends. If there were a house fire, I’d grab my dog, laptop and five-foot-long, regulation, Sally Rand ostrich feather fans — in that order. (Hubby knows the way out.)

I’m a member of the Romance Writers of America, Washington Romance Writers, and an ongoing student of fiction writing, as well as avid reader of general fiction and romance, especially the erotic kind.

I woke up to my lower half on fire.

At first, I thought it was just an aftereffect of my dreams, but when I finally peeled my eyes open, I could smell smoke.

Not gonna lie, watching my girl operate that car like a driving master was as exhilarating as it was hot.
