I ran my fingers down the cotton of her tank, over the slope of her backside, and we were intertwined. I felt myself melting into her, our colors swirling in dazzling circles, like paint flowing onto a spinning turntable. I needed to stop this, but the waves of heat that were gentle before overtook me like a raging river, pulling me closer to her. She was so soft, everything about her was velvety and smooth, and it made my kisses harsher. I traveled down the curve of her delicate neck to the space just behind her ear and took in her scent, a hint of soap with a kiss of the flower that only I could smell. I pressed my lips against the secret nook, and she let out a moan, a sound I had never heard from her, and so I saw something new in her voice: a little burst of gold and violet that exploded and disappeared like a firework.

You have to stop, Ash.

God I didn’t want to. I wanted more than anything to take this all the way, to experience every inch of her smooth skin, see all the different shades and shapes of her moans, and taste the rest of her body, but I had rules. I made these rules for myself years ago, and there was a reason for these rules. Memories of death flashed before me, and the heat that was running through me turned so cold, my teeth almost chattered.

Finally my rational thoughts screamed loud enough to be listened to, and I pulled away. She looked at me for a few seconds, her stare blank, her lips slightly parted. I understood her confusion. Just seconds ago I could have devoured her, but I couldn’t let the switch flip. Now I was afraid it was too late. I had to leave.

That redheaded bitch guided me by my cuff-bound wrists to a room down the hall with no window. She shoved me down onto the bed by my shoulder.

“Fuckin’ watch it, bitch!” I yelled up at her, while I shrugged her hand away from its current location.

“You better watch that smart ass mouth of yours, baby girl.” She firmly held onto my jaw, while her eyes scanned my face. “So, which one are you fucking?”

“Excuse me?”

“Which one are you fucking, Jeremy or the other one? Or both?” She grinned down at me.

“What’s it to you?” My chin jutted upward.

“Just curious to see if I can take one for a little joy ride, which one would you recommend?”

“Fuck you!” I spit up at her, but she jumped back in time to avoid getting hit.

Eva stepped back up to me, my head was pulled backwards and sharp pain ran over my scalp. Fuck, I’m going to be bald by the end of this shit, I swear to God.

“You. Will. Respect. Me. You. Little.Cunt.” She yanked my hair back with each word.

I was silent. Fuck you, bitch. Calling me a cunt? Ha, just you fucking wait.

“There…that’s better.” Eva released her grip on my hair. “I’ll go and make sure the boys have a proper welcoming to the Devil’s clubhouse.” Her chocolate-colored eyes sparkled with amusement. Her red-painted nails pushed a piece of hair behind my ear; she leaned down and kissed my lips. The blood rushed to my ears, adrenaline pumped through my veins. I kept completely still, watching her every move.

As Eva approached the doorway, she looked over her shoulder and called, “Maybe I’ll even let you watch.” She winked at me and left the room. I heard the sound of a deadbolt clicking into place.

I released the breath that I held in. My lungs burned. I was ready to fucking kill that bitch. I threw myself backwards onto the bed, and let out a frustrated scream.

“Are you fucking kidding me, Rox?” Stacey screamed into the phone. There was music blaring in the background, and I heard the clicking of a camera lens and loud flashes. I could only imagine how many umbrellas were set up for the shoot. She was at her next spread for Cover Girl, but decided to stop the presses just for me.

“I wish I were,” I said, remembering his lips on my thighs and the taste of him in my mouth. “He’s intoxicating.” My words seemed to drift away into the open space of the car as I accelerated onto the 610 Loop.

“Oh my god,” she said. “The airiness in your tone, the pauses between your sentences—you fucking liiiiiiiiike him, don’t you?”

I couldn’t admit that, not right now. It was too soon, way too soon. Actually, only hours after the incident, as I now termed it. I couldn’t even tell Stacey what exactly had happened, just that something had happened. Her imagination was dirty, so I’m sure she could figure it out with just a few hints. Honestly, if I even said a peep about it, or about how Parker Williams made me feel, she would be declaring her victory. I might as well just hand her the crown.

The incident had shifted everything I once thought I believed, and everything I had tried to avoid. I couldn’t deny that when I closed my eyes, his face was the one I saw. Those piercing blue eyes were burned into my retinas. I knew the smile permanently attached to my lips existed for one reason. Or if one wanted to get technical, it was the messy brown hair, blue eyes, and that sexy voice that almost made my knees go weak.

Was I having a revelation?

Yes, I was having a revelation. Maybe I wasn’t in control of how I felt anymore? But that couldn’t be. Not after being with someone only once. The chase was over, wasn’t it? Fuuuuucccckkkkkk me! “No. Of course not,” I said after a long pause. I was lost in my thoughts, and Stacey, being the way she was, noticed.

“I wish I could see your face right now, because I know you’re lying. I know you are trying to feed me lies, Roxane VanBuren, and I’m not having it. I want every single dirty little detail of what happened, and not just, ‘we moved to second base,’ got it?”

A man’s voice yelled in the background about how models should get off their damn phones and actually work today.

“I’ve got to go. Darrell is being such a douche. I swear his glitter panties are in a knot right now … but this isn’t over.”

More yells followed, and she said her goodbyes after cursing loudly that it was an emergency and people needed to shut the hell up.

My heart raced at the thought of what was happening to me. I had to deny this at all costs. I couldn’t be in like. I had never fallen for someone so soon. No way. And if I started admitting it, even to myself, it would be trouble.

I knew it sounded so silly to be in like, but it was the first step to love. All I could think of was that stupid childhood chant that we all sang to agitate people who were in like. Roxy and Parker sitting in a tree … next thing there would k-i-s-s-i-n-g, love, then a baby in a baby carriage. Hell no. No. There were no babies in my future.

Single Vol. 1:

Single Vol 1 gets you going to give you just enough of the story to keep you hooked and then… You guessed it cliffhanger! You get to know Roxane who has shut herself off from love. She just wants to scratch that itch from time to time and enjoy life without the complication of love. She has had her fair share of let downs, determined she done with men. When her best friend decides to show her just how much fun you can have if you let loose a little. Coming face to face with an ex that you feel you want to push her too, then in walk Parker, who turns the tables and you are left not knowing which one you want to see her try a relationship with. Parker is so ready to take on Roxane on she is a challenge that he just refuses to give up.

Single Vol. 2:

Blown away! I enjoyed the ups and downs in this book. When Parker walks in and shakes up Roxane world you just can’t put the book down. Roxane bond and determined to keep Parker as just a fling, seems to have her world up ended when Parker decides he wants much more from her. You’re going to laugh, scream and want to pull your hair out at times. These two light the pages up and keep things rolling. Parker knows what he wants and willing to win at all cost, Roxane is just as determined and always wins. The battle of wills with them is so fun to see play out. Just when you know they have found the right road something is tossed into the mix and has them running the other way. I enjoyed the suspense, this red delivers. Amazing work! Looking forward to more from Lyra!

“Are you going to the fight this weekend? I know Trisha will be there, and I won’t even lie and say I don’t want you to be there.” Dylan’s words make my heart stop and my palms start to sweat. Say no, Raven! You can’t be close to him like this!

“Yeah, I’ll be there.” What? That’s the opposite of no, Raven!

Dylan’s smile is so bright it rivals every star I’ve ever seen. I can’t look away. It’s not one thing in particular about him that pulls me in, it’s everything. How could anyone not want to be close to him? How could I not want to be close to him?

She’s timid, constantly fidgeting. She’s moved the pillow on her lap at least twenty times. Her breathing is accelerated and her leg is bouncing up and down with nerves.

It’s taking extreme effort to concentrate on the movie. We’ve almost made it to the end when I hear her sniff. At first, I don’t think much of it, until it happens again. I turn to look at her and see tears rolling down her cheeks. Without thinking, I reach over and wipe the tears away with my thumb. She gives me a watery smile. “I forgot how it ended. I never would have agreed to watch it with you if I had remembered.” She chuckles at herself.

Something in my chest tightens at seeing her tears. No man likes to see a woman cry in his presence, but this is different. I feel…protective of her. Like I could kick Ben and Bruce’s ass for making her cry. Now I want to kick my own ass for even thinking it.

After he enters my cell, he closes the only window. The first thing I do is get up from my bed and drop down on my knees. I kneel in front of him as he comes toward me and stops right in front of me.

“Hmmm …” The low hum of approval has me shivering. I wonder if he will be quick and merciless. If it will be painful. If I will like it. I shouldn’t, but I can’t help myself. If I have to fuck, I might as well enjoy it.

“What brings you to this position?” he asks.

“You wish for me to be submissive. I wish for my freedom. As you said, it’s give and take.”

“I like this,” he says. He bends over and tips my chin up to look at him. “You look beautiful, pet.”

He smiles the warmest, gentlest smile I’ve seen in a long while. His fingers caress my face as he looks at me intently. He leans in to kiss me, taking my breath away. His lips are soft and needy, so much so that I want to steal another one when our lips unlock.

He turns around and walks back to the table, grabbing a chair. He flips it to me and sits down with a coy look on his face. From under his lashes he gazes at me, and then murmurs, “Come here.”

I crawl toward him from the floor. In the meantime, he reaches into his pocket and takes out the remote that he uses to turn away the camera. After throwing it on the table, he pats his legs and says, “Sit.”

I do as he says, perching up to position my legs over his. He twists me so I’m facing away from him and folds my legs over his, spreading mine. One hand is around my waist, while the other is around my throat. His fingers pinch, and I let out a cough. It’s a soft warning of what he’s capable of should I disobey.

“Offering yourself like that to me … it gets me all riled up, you know that?” he whispers in my ear. His tongue darts out to lick me, causing me to shiver. “It makes me want to play with your pussy and fuck you until you come screaming my name.” His sultry voice ends in a moan, which makes me flutter with need.

His hand drifts down my stomach toward my sweatpants as he plants a kiss on my neck.

“Do it,” I murmur. “Take me.”

I’m not sure anymore if I say it because I want to escape so badly that I’d do anything for it, or if it’s because I’m aching for his touch.

It’s all I’ve felt for the past few months, and his desires are starting to consume my every thought. I let him use me in my cell, put his cock in places I’ve never allowed a man to go, and I let him bring me pleasure to the point of wanting it more than he did. I’ve done it over and over again until I couldn’t see the difference between what I wanted and what he wanted most.

Whew, where to begin. I’m still trying to cool down from this hot read. You talk about hot this one is that and more! Just love them cowboys that seem to know just what they are doing. This read is not only hot but very well written. I could not put this one down. It’s a short read, but so much goes on that you feel like you have a full read on your hands. The flow of the story is amazing and smooth. The story just takes off and leaves you panting for more!

Jakob and Kate light up the pages of this book. Both very strong characters they build and play on each other as the story progresses. They both have faced and continue to face their own vices. When Jakob takes the job of hunting this mountain lion down, he is looking for some little quite time to himself; little does he know he is getting so much more. Kate refuses to have anyone try and tell her what to do or how to do it. She sure isn’t going to have someone come to her land to hunt the big cat down without her being a part of it. What they find is so much hotter than the big cat!

Great reads now it’s time to go cool off some so I can get ready for the next book in this series. If it’s as hot as this one I might need some ice!
