“May I have this dance?” he asks even as we begin
dancing.

“Of course,” I say as I place my hands on his
shoulders.

After a beat, he pulls me into his body, and I place
my head on his shoulder as we continue to dance.

“God, how I hated this movie,” he whispers against my
forehead.

Giggling, I ask, “Why?”

“Because I remember when you and Conner had first
moved in with each other. I kid you not, nine out of ten times when I stopped
by this damn movie would be on in at least one room of y’alls house.”

“Nuh-uh,” I say as I lift my head.

He winks as he leans down and places a soft kiss on my
lips. A small breath leaves me as I’m frozen to the spot, and I stare him in
eyes. Why did he kiss me?

“Breathe, Emily,” he whispers.

“Why?” I blurt out.

“Why what?” he asks as he tilts his head to the side.

“Kiss me.”
