I was a little thrown off when I started this read; it took me a little while to figure out just what was going on. Once I did I was able to get more in to the book and enjoy it.  Jett and Brook have a little game the like to play and you are pretty much thrown right in to that game from the start!  This book is going to keep you guessing. There is a lot that goes on and if you’re not paying attention you’re going to get left behind.  Go in to reading this book with a very open mind that you’re not going to get all the answer we all want. You get bits a pieces, along with being left wondering as well.

Just a warning there is an awesome cliffhanger!!! Just when you think you’re going to get some answers the rug is pulled!!! HA Ha!!!

Looking forward to the next book, The Lover’s Game!!!

This is becoming one of my all-time favorite series! You just can’t get enough of Averi and Colt! Heart pounding emotions!
Averi has been through hell and back! Colt has been by her side through it all! In Broken Roads you’re going to get more a look back in to their pass and what made them so strong of a couple. I can’t tell you which book I liked better because they both rock. Broken Roads takes you back and always lets you look at to the future. There is so much excitement pack in to this book you can’t keep your eyes off it. Averi show you just how strong of a person she can be when it comes to those she loves. You’re going to cry, laugh and have your world rocked with this book. Addison is an amazing writer.
Looking forward to the next book in the series!
It is
often said that time heals all wounds. It is spoken like a promise… a vow.
These words are repeated to people who have been beaten down to their lowest
state. To the poor souls who have nothing left to lose. Whispered into the ear
of a grieving daughter, told with a shrug to a man who has nothing left to live
for.
These are
dangerous people.
The
down-trodden.
The grieving.
The ones
who love more people dead than alive.
The words
should never be uttered. Not to the ones who have no solid ground on which to
stand upon, no rail in which to clasp. The white-knuckled moments of life have
come to be expected rather than feared.
“Time heals all wounds.”
The words
are an insult. A slap in the face… and around here, they’ll get you hurt. For
Averi McClain and her husband Colt, there were few deeper insults.
If time
could heal all wounds, Jessa McClain would be proud to know that she was going
to be a grandmother. Nathan Ford would have proudly walked his little girl down
the aisle with Corinne beaming from her seat. Sitting by her side, Anna McCord
would wipe a tear from her eye. Standing proudly by Colt and Randy at the
arbor, Seth would have stood as a groomsman for his childhood friend. That is,
if time truly healed all wounds.
But what
about the hurts you cannot see? The deep gashes and the mangled hearts that
remain after the brutality of a war. Their childhood was a battlefield. Colt
and Averi didn’t want that for their own sons and daughters.
What does
time to do wounds? Time is nothing but a reminder of how much time has past
since you last saw the ones you love most. The line is bullshit. A scape goat.
A cheap cop out. It is something people say when they don’t know what to say.
It’s not deep or sympathetic. It doesn’t stop the heart from bleeding. Colt
would not have a granite wall built around his heart like a fortress. A barrier
which only Averi could crack.
Randy’s
soul would not quake with anger every time he heard mention of Black Horse, his
roving band of lunatics, also known as the Seventy Devils, or Jimmy Hearns. You
can’t even say the name Trent Myers to him without his sanity flickering out of
sight. Tim wouldn’t have to fight his anger out at the gym for several hours,
five days a week. Shelly’s sense of security would be intact and undisturbed.
Averi’s legs would not be permanently scarred with evidence of Black Horse’s
fiery insanity.
Time doesn’t
heal all wounds. Wounds fester. Sometimes the strain and exertion of trying to
get
better puts so much stress on the wound that the scab rips open, stitches and
scar tissue be damned.
Some
wounds cannot be mended.
Some
lines are just begging to be crossed.
Some
roads are meant to be broken.
As one of
Averi’s favorite bands so poignantly croons, “God blessed the broken road
that led me straight to you.” In the case of Colt and Averi, no song
lyrics could more perfectly describe the road that they have traveled. They
have a love like no other, acting as a guiding light, a beacon in a world turned
dark by Black Horse. What would you do if the the one man you couldn’t live
without, was the son of the bastard that murdered your parents and your eldest
brother? In the case of Averi Ford, she knew Colt was nothing like his father.
He had spent his entire life running from his shadow. He had always been the
one to protect Averi, even more so than her ever watchful brothers. You can’t
turn away from a love like that.
Theirs
was a love that was intensified by pain and longing, desperation and heartache.
They faced seemingly unsurmountable odds, and continue to do so, side by side.
She needed him, not to be her hero, but as her equal and her friend until the
end of their days. He needed her, not only physically, but spiritually,
emotionally, he had wrapped all his hope in her. His humanity relied on her
happiness. If her heart ceased to beat, he would let the darkness overcome him.
He wouldn’t stop until every single member of the Seventy Devils were dead.
Lord
knows Randy and Tim would fight right alongside him. Averi was as essential to
Colt as oxygen. Without her, the Colt that she knew and loved would cease to
exist. They loved each other despite the odds they faced; in spite of those who
said they shouldn’t. Averi loved him regardless of his family history, of the
stares and gossip, the upturned noses and blatant hostility. When Colt McClain
walks into a room, the citizens of Oakely don’t see him. They don’t see his
face or his kind soul. They don’t see him at all. They see Black Horse – the
man he so closely resembles, but whose hearts are night and day. There is a key
difference. There is a gentle warmth to Colt’s gaze. A calm depth that if you
look deep enough, you can see all the good in him. Look into Black Horse’s eyes
and you’ll see your own demise. When people look Colt’s way, they see a
murderer, a thief, a snake. They see a man with no soul. But Colt never killed
a man that didn’t have it coming, and let me tell you, Jimmy Hearns has it
coming.
Most
motorcycle clubs are not street gangs, but in the case of the Seventy Devils,
there was no point in hiding it. The Seventy Devils ran the streets of Oakeley.
The Seventy Devils, the band of lawless savages that did Black Horse’s bidding,
lived on, leaderless and hell bent on anarchy. When the strange circumstances
surrounding Black Horse’s death went public, Jimmy monopolized. Playing the
role of a mourning son, Jimmy earned the respect and the power Texas’ most
violent motorcycle gang. To say the devils are out for blood is an
understatement of epic proportions. The band of sociopathic heathens were
rallied by Black Horse’s death. It was a call to action, a call to arms, each
one of them thirsty to drain the blood from Black Horse’s murderer. Each one
yearning to display his killer’s head on a pike for the whole community to see.
If the Seventy Devils were hostile during Black Horse’s reign, it was nothing
compared to their mental state after Black Horse was found burned, shot and
murdered.
A war has
erupted. The Seventy Devils are scattered and on alert, gnawing at the bit for
the go-ahead to strike. They would not hesitate to spill the blood of anyone
who stood in their way of recompense. They knew they would need to act fast if
they wanted to come out on top. Colt was not the kind of guy that you slept on.
He’d stop at nothing to protect his family and he was lethal whether he was
heavily armed or going toe to toe, bare knuckled beat-down style. Colt did have
Black Horse’s blood coursing through his veins, after all. But then, so did
Jimmy, and he is ready to show everyone that the apple didn’t fall far from the
tree… in fact, they appear to have formed on the same poisoned branch.
As leader
of the Devils, Jimmy had seventy miscreants to do his bidding – and three goals
in which he needed to achieve:
1.      Avenge Black Horse
2.      Kill Colt McClain and Randy Ford
3.      Take Averi for his own
Jimmy has
another thing coming if he thinks victory is easily won. Will Colt and Averi’s
broken road end in tragedy? Or will they be the ones to banish the devils
straight to hell? When the demons of the past rise up, can Colt and Randy face
them fearless and determined? Whatever happens, don’t expect Colt and Randy to
stand alone. Buckle up. The broken road makes for one hell of a ride.

I have to say that Alicia and Natalie rocked this story! I was on pins and needles the whole time. You’re going to be questioning so much never quite sure what the outcome is going to be. It’s a very heart stopping tale. You might even want to have a few tissues on hand, just saying.  I could not put this book down. Damon is a complete mystery you have judgments about who he is but yet you question yourself if you have the right view of him. Ella I can see why she has made some of the choice she makes even when we know that it’s never really going to be good to try to get revenge for what you feel has been done wrong to you.

I’m looking forward to the next book and can’t wait till it’s out!!!

“Ella,”
he rasps. “You’re gonna fuckin’ kill me. Sweet Jesus, baby.” He closes
the distance between us in two strides. When he’s close enough, his
hands grip on my hips and pull me into him. Our bodies clash, my blood
ignites.
Need washes through me. Damon’s scent envelopes me, he smells pure male.
My chest heaves as I look up into his eyes, my breasts brushing against
his chest with every inhale.
“I can see everything, beauty. Every fucking thing. The rounded globes
of your perfect arse, the mound of your pussy, the dimples at the back
of your knees.” His hands move down to grip my arse cheeks. He squeezes
roughly before pulling me into his hard cock. I moan as the move hits
the perfect spot. “God, I need to keep you.”

Sweeter Excerpt
“Morning,”
he whispers into my neck as he nuzzles. I gasp at the soft stroke of
his tongue on my neck. “I can smell you. I’ll have your scent stuck in
my head all day. I need a taste.” He sucks my earlobe into his mouth as
he nibbles me. “Just one taste. I have to have one taste.” The huskiness
of his desire filled voice makes my knees weak. I melt into his body,
letting the feelings he’s evoking within me take over.

This book is going to have you so wrapped up that you can’t put it down till you finish it.  Addie had it all going for her coming from a family that doesn’t have much she has pushed herself to always do her best. Daimon always the bully picking and tormenting Addie any chance he could. You going to love and hate this story. It’s going to have you in tears and ready to fight all at the same time. I could not get enough of this book and can’t wait till the next book comes out. I have to tell you this is a really good cliffhanger book; you are just left staring at the book wondering what just happen. It was awesome to have a book to that to me. I love books with cliffhanger but this one topped the cake. Biting my nails for the next book to come out!

This book is going as one of the top books I read this year!

Synopsis

*******This book is the first in the series and includes a cliffhanger ending******

“My name is Addie Sakis, I had a promising future once. I had my whole life planned out, but after that tragic day, everything changed. The world I coveted no longer existed. Ten years went by until one day when Daimon Evans, the boy who bullied me continuously in high school, reemerged back into my life, offering me all that I wanted in exchange for one thing….me.”

Addie Sakis had a sad past, a past that overshadowed her future. She clung to it not knowing how to let it go. That was until Daimon Evans came back into her life challenging her and pushing her back to the fighter he knew still existed inside her. If only she knew that Daimon wasn’t the devil she thought, but rather it was her demons that ruled her, the demons that lay inside her soul.

How far will Addie go to help her family? Which line won’t she cross as she deals with the devil she calls Daimon?

Note from the Author: This is a dysfunctional love and hate trilogy that involves emotional blackmail and a few other situations that the one wouldn’t do to the person they liked or loved. Addie and Daimon do what they do under the guise of a love that hurts so good. Happy Reading.

Excerpt

“This isn’t good,” said Silvia. She was one of our most loyal patrons. She was a bit eccentric. She wore too much rouge and cheap perfume. Her age was completely unknown, but she was old. Her hair was a light purple as it puffed up high over her head.

“No, it’s not,” I said quietly looking out through the storefront window. They were close to opening it up.

I stood there, my arms crossed, just shaking my head. I was so engrossed that I failed to notice a customer had walked in.

“So, what’s the deal here? Do you actually work or stare out the window?”

It couldn’t be.

Ten fucking years had gone by. There would be no way that boy would be here.

I turned my head slightly and there in my diner’s entryway stood Daimon.

The old saying when it rains it pours, was seriously an understatement when it came to my life and me. It didn’t pour, a fucking typhoon happened the moment he walked in my restaurant and subsequently back into my life. I put my best poker face on, as I held my stance with my arms still crossed.

“You can sit wherever you like.” I smiled, not meaning it. He nodded and proceeded to walk into my little restaurant and slid into one of our worn out booths.

“Well… isn’t he, the cat’s meow,” Silvia said nearly moaning.

“God! How old are you?” I asked her, looking at her like she had a few screws loose.

“Old. But my libido is still working,” she grinned, a little bit of red lipstick had stained her front teeth.

“Okay, way too much info.” I shook my head at her.

She wasn’t wrong about him. The man was stunning, with his dark longish hair in a perfect hair cut with a faint beard and his intense blue, like the sky, eyes. His black perfectly trimmed suit only added to his effect, which by his grin, he knew.

I smiled walking over to him.

“What can I get you?” I asked.

“Coffee and some company would be nice.” He continued to grin.

His voice had gotten deeper over the years. I shook it off. Fine, I can admit it. He turned out to be sexy, but it didn’t change the fact the he tormented me all throughout high school, like I was his personal plaything. I brought him the coffee. I was tempted to throw it on him, but I didn’t.

“Here’s your coffee.” I placed it on the table.

“Silvia?” I yelled over my shoulder still looking at him.

“And here’s your company, sir,” I grinned.

Silvia nearly launched herself into the booth.

“Well hello, dear.” She smiled from ear to ear, her dentures nearly falling out. Daimon’s face fell. I had to step away not to laugh.

“Um…how about the boss lady?” he asked, leaning away from Silvia and her dentures.

“The boss lady? Ah, forget her, sweet sugar. You have this beautiful dame right here in front of you. How’s about you and me go for some giggle water?” She wagged her eyebrows at him.

“Are you for real? Hey!” he yelled over to me. “Is this lady for real? What the fuck is giggle water?” he asked me, seemingly uncomfortable.

“Alcohol,” Silvia said, shocked that he didn’t know.

Well, the truth was I didn’t know either, but that was Silvia. She was stuck back in a time I couldn’t relate to.

“How about I take a rain check?” Daimon said half smiling.

“Ah raspberries,” Silvia pouted.

“Hey Addie? Addie? Addie?” He called my name each time in a different tone.

“I’m sorry, sir. How is it that you know my name?” I grinned. God, if it wasn’t for customer service and the fact I didn’t want him to know I remembered him, I would have thrown his ass out so fast.

“You can’t be serious? Addie, it’s me,” he said holding out his hands like ‘hey I’m unforgettable.’ I shook my head.

“You are… who exactly?” I asked again, shrugging.

“Daimon, Daimon Evans,” he sighed.

“Oh, I like the name,” Silvia moaned again.

“Well, it’s nice to meet you Daimon, Daimon Evans.” I smiled and nodded.

“You have to be fucking with me,” he said not too pleased as he stood up and walked over to me. “I know you remember me,” he said low as he glared at me.

“I’m not going to lie, it rings a bell.” I shook my head again. “College?” I offered.

“Fine, we’ll play your game, your way.” He threw some money on the table; looked back at me as he fixed his coat and began to walkout. “For now.” He pulled the door open and left.

“You’re telling me you don’t remember a fine piece of ass like that?” Silvia pointed at the door.

“No, I don’t. I remember a boy who made my life miserable.” I growled low into my chest. Silvia rose up from the booth and stood beside me.

“Ah shucks, honey, if he looked like that, he could have made my life a living hell and I would have loved it,” she said as she started blowing kisses at him through the window.

I inched closer to the storefront and watched as Daimon walked away. Why did I suddenly feel like my future had this ominous cloud over it?

About The Author

cs

I was born on a cold day in January. They said I was the only baby in the hospital. They also said that I picked my head up twice to turn away from people who came to see me after I was born (Who wants strangers looking at you after such a life altering event while you are naked?). Not much has changed. That cold day was 30 years ago in South Carolina. Needless to say, I got the twang! At the ripe age of 22, I married my man bear pig hubby who happens to be from Chicago. I learned that there are people who do not have accents, who sound like they have accents because they don’t have accents. Mind blowing there. Our love story is pretty nifty. I met him online when I was 15 and chatted with him for four years, on and off as friends, until we met and I showed him some southern charm and BAM! Here we are ten years later with eight years of marriage and several fur persons rounding out the family thus far! My writing started as a child when I tried to write about three pewter statues of wizards coming to life. Books and words have always been a passion for me. My mind is incredibly random, if you talk to me for more than ten minutes, it becomes painfully obvious. I draw inspiration from absolutely anything and everything I come in contact with, with particular emphasis on music, pictures and the crazy situations in life. It is my hope one day to have a small hot air balloon tied to my chimney so I can write by starlight. I am pretty sure I would find that most inspiring.

Black Horse  is a very emotional and well told story.  Once you start this book you are not going to put it down till you turn the last page. If you love a book that has guns, love, violence, heartbreak and the list goes on you have found the right book! Just be warned it going to keep you on the edge of your seat.  I am still trying to clam my nerves!

Averi and Colton very strong and very broken charters.  They form a love most could never see happening but you come to see why it works even through all the heartbreak. Tom McClain refuse to let anyone have the happiness they deserve and will do what ever it cost to make sure this happens.

This was place on my all time favorite reads for this year!

Synopsis:

There is no sensation, no experience more delicious and tempting to the senses than the taste of forbidden love. The longing… The desire… The unquenched thirst for his touch. He was the man I was never supposed to love. I was supposed to hate him. I suppose part of me did and that is what made the desire so much more intense. He set a fire under my skin that burned white hot with every smoldering glance. He sets my soul ablaze, the slow burn of passion aching in every inch of my body.

Black Horse. The name haunted my dreams… But regardless of family vendettas, old hurts and contemptuous blood shed, the heart wants what it wants… and mine has a mind of its own and my mind is set on Colton McClain.

His family is known by his father’s nickname: Black Horse. Like one of the four horses flying out of the gates of hell, Tom “Black Horse” McClain ripped my world apart fifteen years ago. I was only seven when I found my mother and father dead in their beds, with Tom McClain standing over them with a blood stained butcher knife. He would have come for me, too, had my brothers not saved me. Seth, my older brother, swooped me up before I had the chance to scream and covered my mouth with his hand.

Tom McClain sought out the services of my father in a time of great need. My father, Nathan Ford, was a highly reputable criminal defense attorney, who took on Tom’s case when he was accused of murdering his wife after she was caught in bed with another man. Tom didn’t have the money to pay for my father’s services, so he took on the case pro bono because he believed in Tom’s innocence. I remember my dad meeting with Tom in his study while my mother looked after Colton, my brothers and I in the kitchen. We had become very close. My brothers once considered Colton their best friend. Not anymore.

My father got Tom off on a technicality. The prosecution had no reliable witnesses and they weren’t about to rely on the testimony of a five year old boy; Colton himself. He had witnessed the whole ordeal himself. How does Tom repay my father for his kindess and generosity? He murdered him in his sleep. He killed Daddy first. Momma screamed when she saw a man standing over her bed, and that is what woke me. In just my nightgown and socks, I tip-toed down the hall past Timmy, Randy and Seth’s bedrooms and as I entered the doorway to Momma and Daddy’s room, Tom McClain plunged a knife through my mother’s chest. My blood ran cold. I tried to scream but no sound would come out. The next thing I knew, Seth had his hand over my mouth and we hid in the hall closet. Tears streamed down my face as my arms and legs shook. I could her Tom’s boot echo against the hard wood floor of the hall.

“Sssh… Don’t say a word…” I remember Seth urging.

The air in the closet was stifling; warm and dead like a coffin. I could hear my brothers’ heavy breathing. Our dog Micah’s frantic barking from the back yard. She knew something was horribly wrong. His bootfalls were getting closer… louder… I took a deep breath and didn’t dare exhale in fear that he would hear me. Somehow, I was able to stifle my tears, but something happened that was out of my control. My thought caught from my sobbing. Tom heard it. The foot steps intensified, beating a path to the closet door. Seth, still firmly holding me, swung around so I was facing the inside of the closet. I focused on the faded floral pattern of the shelf lining that was barely visible in the dark lighting of the closet. I focused on anything but the sound of Tom McClain’s approaching footsteps. Then a loud clicking sound made it impossible. The sound of a shot gun barrel banging into place. He didn’t even bother opening the door.

Bang! Bang! Then silence.

Out of instinct I jumped into the shelf before me and cowered behind the extra blankets mother kept neatly stored on the shelf. I was stunned that I was still alive, until reality set in. Seth had slumped down against the door of the closet, unrecognizable and motionless. The shotgun blast had obliterated his once handsome face.

I am supposed to hate Colton McClain, but I can’t. When the police showed up the next day, they found Colton locked in his father’s pick-up a block away, hungry, thirsty and distraught. He was taken away by the state and put in foster care because none of his relatives wanted to have anything to do with the Black Horse name. Black Horse was caught trying to jump the border with my father’s wallet in his pocket and $10,000 in cash in a duffel bag. He traveled alone, having abandoned Colton in his truck back in Oakely. I guess his boy knew too much. When officials apprehended him, they ran my Daddy’s license and discovered that he was found murdered. Tom pleaded insanity, but after a thorough psychiatric evaluation, it was concluded that Tom McClain knew exactly what he was doing. He was sentenced to prison for twenty years, having received a lenient judge; a rarity in the State of Texas.

My surviving brothers Randy and Tim could never know about Colton and I. They’ve had it out for him for years. Bloodlines run thick around here. The sins of the fathers will forever haunt the sons, and women are to stand back and stay out of the way. Well, I have something to say about that… Fuck that, Colton McClain didn’t murder my family. His father did… and he suffered just as much as we did. Now fifteen years after the crime that screwed both of our lives up royally, Black Horse is getting out of jail. Just four days until his release. Colton wants to hide me. He said we can run… Start over somewhere else. My brothers are armed to the teeth and a war is about to break out. I have no intentions of sitting down or running away like a little girl. We cannot hide from this anymore.

Our past does not own us, and we owe it to our hearts to show the world that love can arise from the darkest of places. We only have to survive to tell the tale.
