For Evie Rivers, eight weeks in the Hamptons is the perfect opportunity to get her dreams of being a romance writer off the ground. She’s planning to keep to herself and finish her first novel. But then she meets Adam Walker, and everything changes.

He was so at ease, walking into my house wrapped in a towel, that I had to remind myself we had only just met. Scurrying in, I quickly busied myself scrunching up newspaper and stacking the fireplace with kindling and logs while Adam gazed around the room. Max sniffed at everything that was within reach before finding the rug by the hearth to be the most comfortable place to flop down.
“Here, allow me.” Adam squatted beside me, the movement making his towel flap open dangerously high. I quickly averted my eyes, then took a sneaky look back down. The towel was only just covering the good bits, as the muscles in his legs flexed to support his weight and hold him stable.
I racked my brain, trying to think of something to say, but it had been a very long time since I had been this close to an attractive man, and never this close to a nearly naked one, other than my ex-husband Charles. Being with Charles had never given me these butterflies; he was comfortable to be around, like a friend you felt safe with. This guy made me want to run away and launch myself at him all at the same time.
Adam looked down at his lack of clothing. “We’d better head home. I need to get dressed.” He moved for the door. “Come on, buddy, let’s go.”
Max’s tail thumped once. His eyes opened for a moment, then closed again.
“Come on, Maxie.” Adam patted his thigh. “Max. Come.”
I stifled my snigger as Max settled in, relishing the comfort of the rug and open fire after his swim in the freezing water.
“He can stay here. It’s no trouble,” I offered. “I can bring him over later or…”
“I’ll come back in a little while after I get some clothes on.” His eyes swept over me. “I’ll see you soon, Buttercup.”
The door closed and Adam’s broad back descended the stairs to the beach and disappeared around the corner.
Did he just call me Buttercup?

I could have walked away. Hell, I could have run. I could have gotten in a cab and gone home. I didn’t even have a purse with me, only some cash in my back pocket. I hadn’t wanted anybody to find my ID and put two and two together.
I didn’t. I stayed where I stood. Held in place by Drake’s voice.
“Are you going to answer me?” he asked. I turned to him.
“Could we not talk about this right here?” I asked, looking around. “It’s a little public out here.”
“Fine.” He grabbed my arm and pulled me around to the side of the building, where there was no one but us. “Tell me what’s wrong with you.”
“I thought after today you wanted me, is all. And I thought, okay, I’ll make a move. But you made me feel like…”
“Like what? A slut?” He smirked.
“You think this is funny? You’re disgusting!” I raised my hand to slap him, instinct taking over, and his hand was out in a flash to grip my wrist. He had the reflexes of a cat to go with the way he moved.
“That’s more like it,” he murmured. “That’s the real you. Not the one who flashes her tits and tries to come on to me. You’re the girl who tries to hit me because she doesn’t know what else to do to pretend she doesn’t want me.” He leaned in, pushing me back until I was pressed against the sun-warmed bricks of the Clubhouse, still holding their heat from earlier in the day. My body burned the way they did.
“Leave me alone, Drake.”
“You act like that because you don’t like the way I talk to you. You’re not used to guys talking to you that way. But you like it. You like it when I do it, and you hate yourself for it, and you put up walls between us.” His body was against me, all muscle and strength and power. I felt the heat coming from him, too, just like that from the bricks. Sweat trickled down the back of my neck.
“Stop this.” I turned my head away, as his mouth was so close to mine. “Not this way.”
“What way?”
“I don’t like it like this. Stop trying to overpower me. You don’t have to try so hard.”
“And neither do you.” He placed a finger under my chin, turning my head until our eyes met. “I wouldn’t work so hard to get through to you if you didn’t work so hard to keep me away. Why don’t you just give in to what you want? What we both want?”
“And that is what?” I could hardly breathe, my heart was racing so out of control. My knees were jelly, the blood rushing in my ears.
“For me to take you to my room and give you a night you’ll never forget.” He brushed his lips against mine, ever so gently, causing a blazing inferno to erupt and consume me. I leaned further in, closer to him, but he pulled back with a devilish grin.
“See? I know what you want better than you do. And I can give it to you.” He licked his lips. “You want it?”
“Yes,” I breathed. It was so easy to give in. Drake was right.

“Let me have her.” I held my hands in the direction of Colin, who’d been pacing with Charlotte in his arms. She was the only happy person in the room and had entertained herself for the past ten minutes by chewing on her fist.
He deposited her into my arms and resumed pacing. She grabbed at my chunky silver necklace and lunged for my curls. I knew she wanted to play peek-a-boo in my hair because lately that was her favorite entertainment.
“No, babykins. Let’s leave Mommy’s hair alone for tonight.” I swept my curls back with my free hand, and she giggled into my chest. My hair had grown even longer in Caleb’s absence, since I hadn’t had the desire to do anything with it. But my hair didn’t matter, Charlotte’s slobbery little mouth didn’t matter, nothing mattered. We were about to be a family—for the first time.
A surge went through me. I was giddy. Manic, even, at the thought of Caleb’s return.
I blew a fart noise on Charlotte’s cheek and she laughed more.
Bouncing Charlotte on my hip, we turned again to the window, and she reached her chubby hand to the glass, as if trying to touch the night. I’d dressed her in a frothy, hot pink dress with a tulle skirt. She looked unbearably adorable, and it would be impossible for Caleb not to recognize his own child with big blue eyes so identical to his.
Colin’s phone buzzed. “It’s him.” He inhaled sharply, then answered and grinned. “Hey. Yeah, we’re all here. Okay.” He hung up. “Caleb and Dad and Mom are in the lobby.”
Laura gave a little muffled cry and hugged Sarah, who stared hard at me over Laura’s shoulder.
“I’m fine,” I mouthed to her, not feeling fine at all. I kissed Charlotte’s cheek. “Daddy’s home,” I whispered, trying not to shake too much. Charlotte seemed unusually heavy.
After a few seconds, a nervous, barking laugh escaped my lips. “How long does it take for the elevator to crawl up here?”
No one responded.
Then, the ding of the elevator bell.
The sliding open of the doors.
And my husband walked in.

The men fight for right in every book. Yes they kill people. Yes they shoot at
the bad guys feet to cause them pain. Yes they throw tampons at each other
regularly.
That being said, they do these things while stopping human trafficking,
bringing their Club into legitimate businesses, fight gangs to keep drugs away
from their town and kids, keep women sheltered safely while trying to stop
domestic abuse. These are men that don’t leave a Brother behind. They don’t
treat women as possessions and they don’t cheat. Respect takes on an honorable

Pulled Apart – Belfast Bound #3

SYNOPSIS: It’s been a long journey to get here. A long, painful journey, I
have the scars, nightmares, and panic attacks to prove it. I never would have
believed, all those years ago, that Oliver Watson would have been my worst
nightmare. I’m not sorry that he’s dead. I’m just sorry that it wasn’t at my
hand. I hate him. I hate what he did to me. I hate what he has taken from me.
More than anything, I hate him for taking the coward’s way out. He was supposed
to rot in prison for his crimes, not leave me to be the only one to face what
happened.
I’m Juliet Monroe. I’m twenty-five years old and I have been through hell. I’ve
learned so much about myself. The thing that I’ve learned most is just how
strong I can be, but as strong as I am, without my friends, I wouldn’t be here.
I’ve learned that friends can be your lifelines, friends can be your support,
friends can be your saviours, and sometimes, they might just save your
life.
**WARNING** This book is intended for mature audiences (18+) only. The
storyline is a rape survivor’s retelling of their story, and as such may cause
distress. While acts of violence are depicted, it is vital to the main premise
of being able to move on with hope.

Titanic Signing Belfast, 2018 – March 24th.
Held in the iconic Titanic Belfast museum – Saturday March 24th 2018, this international book signing will be an event that will not be forgotten! Afterwards we head on to the Europa Hotel for ‘A Night to Remember’ with a Gala Dinner and partying on into the wee hours.

I’m Leigh Stone, I live in Northern Ireland, just outside the capital city of Belfast, in a house I share with my teenage daughter, and our personal zoo (1 Labrador mix, 3 cats, and 2 rabbits!).
I’m first and foremost a reader, and a fast reader at that, often devouring books in a single sitting over a period of hours. I have always had aspirations to write and become a published author, but as a teenager I was encouraged to look for a different profession, as being an author “wouldn’t pay the bills.”
It was that reading that lead a friend of mine to suggest that I had read so many of those books that I could probably write my own! It seemed like a good idea, and I thought that I would give it a try 🙂 a few months later Lex’s Melody was well underway, and the rest as they say is history!

Exclusive Excerpt:
Tall grass, dried from the blazing summer days, crunched under their duty shoes. Heat hung over the dirt road, and not even the pools of shade cast by tall water oaks offered relief. The red clay, already rutted and dusty after the recent rains, baked under the early-afternoon sun, and a black snake sunned himself beside the ditch.
Zeke’s forlorn truck sat next to the turnoff to the sprawling fields. On one side of the dirt track, green corn stalks, tassels golden and silky, reached toward the blue cloudless sky. On the other, neat rows of peppers and squash, heavy with ripe produce, ran up to the far woods. Cicadas buzzed in a quivering rise and fall of distant sound. The police radio beeped and squawked, a garbled transmission between Chris and dispatch, a license-plate check. Around the abandoned Ford, a bubble of silence pulsed. The window was down, a cell phone and wallet on the dash. The keys, on a John Deere fob, dangled from the ignition. Empty fertilizer jugs littered the bed. A tidy stack of bushel baskets waited next to the vehicle.
Around the truck, the grass was beaten down, trodden low by farm vehicles, tractors and booted feet. Rob leaned down to better see inside the truck, but didn’t touch anything. “When was the last time you heard from him?”
“Yesterday at lunch.” Worry roughened Dale Jenkins’s voice. “His mama tried to call him last night and there was no answer, but that’s not real unusual. She called Britt this morning when he still didn’t answer, and he never came home last night.”
“Why didn’t Brittany call us?” Rob straightened and pulled out his notebook to begin jotting.
“She said it’s not unusual for him not to come home some nights.”
Really. That was new. Rob scratched down a note, but kept his face impassive. “Have you talked to any of his friends today? Other relatives he’s in contact with?”
“His grandma hasn’t heard from him. My wife’s been calling his friends, and none of them have seen or heard from him.”
Rob cast a look at the cell phone on the dash. “Did you touch anything in the truck?”
“No. When I got here and saw his stuff like that, I walked the field and through the woods down to the stream, just seeing if I could find him.” Dale wiped a hand across his tense jaw. “I been friends with Tick Calvert a long time, and my wife likes that Dateline show. I knew better than to touch anything when I didn’t find him.”
“Okay.” Rob stared at the truck, then down the turnoff and into the woods. Turning, he nodded at Troy Lee. “Will you get Parker out here with the dog? And bring me the evidence kit from the trunk.”
With his phone, he snapped a series of photos of the scene and the truck’s interior.
“Chris is on his way.” Troy Lee stopped beside him and set down the multiple-compartment box that housed the evidence kit. Rob removed two pair of latex gloves and snapped them on, one pair over the other. Rather than open the door, he reached through the open window and retrieved the cell phone. The home screen glowed to life to reveal myriad missed calls from his parents and Mike Smithwick, plus various texts from Brittany and a couple of friends. Rob swiped his thumb across the screen and the keyboard popped up for a passcode entry.
He glanced sideways at Jenkins. “Do you know his passcode?”
“Four-one-two-zero.” Jenkins cleared his throat. “It’s part of Emma’s birthday.”
Rob navigated to check for the last outgoing texts and calls, both of which dated to late the previous morning. A phone call to his mother around eleven, then a text to Brittany at twelve.
Rob placed the phone in an evidence bag, labeled and sealed it. He squinted across the field, quiet and deserted under the midday sun. “Mr. Jenkins, other than the situation with Brittany this week, has Zeke had other difficulties you know of? Has he been in any trouble or talked to you about any problems he’s had lately?”
“No.” Jenkins pushed up the bill of his battered cap with one finger and scrubbed a hand over his forehead. “He’s always been a real good boy. We weren’t happy about Britt being pregnant with them so young and not married and all, but since they got married, he works hard to take care of her and Emma.”
The grass surrounding the produce field showed no evidence of recent foot traffic. Maybe he’d never even made it into the field. “You said you talked to his friends. Is it possible he’s with one of them?”
“No.” Jenkins shook his head. “He might ignore Britt and he might ignore me, but that boy would never ignore his mama.”

“I have more nerve than that. I want to fuck you, and I have half a mind to strip you right now, flip you on your stomach, and punish you until you scream. So, answer my question. Has he touched you?”
“You wouldn’t dare!” Heat rushed through me at his threat. Because I was fucked up. Because I wanted him to want me. Because he was all I could think about—his face, his body, his scent, his twisted mind.
“Wouldn’t I?” He got to his knees and pulled me up before throwing me over his shoulder.
“What the fuck are you doing?” I beat at his back as he got to his feet and headed away from the house and toward the oaks that lined the driveway.
He ran his hand up my thigh and pressed hard against my pussy. “Hot and wet, just like I thought.”
“Put me down.”
“I will.” He strode into the shade of the oaks and pushed me up against one of them. The oak’s wide trunk hid us from the house.
I pressed my palm against his chest. “I’m not—”
He kissed me, pinning me between his chest and the tree. His hands roved me, and before long, he had one up my shirt, palming my breast through my bra. I dug my nails into his chest, but he only leaned in harder, as if he wanted my violence.
He ripped up my bra, exposing both breasts, and groaned into my mouth as he squeezed them. My knees went weak at his touch. Every thought of anger or hatred burned away as he consumed me as surely as fire does black powder. Breaking our kiss, he whipped me around to face the tree.
“Pull your pants down or I’ll do it myself.”
I glanced over my shoulder as he unfastened his belt. He ripped the elastic from my hair and tossed it aside.
“Do it, Stella.” He growled and slapped my ass.
I fumbled with my button and unzipped my pants. He did the rest, ripping them down my legs to my knees.
