M.N. Forgy has managed to pull me in to the Devil’s Dust world and I don’t want to come back. I enjoy What Doesn’t Destroy Us now The Scars That Defined Us is just beyond belief. I think I just take up resident in Shadows’ Corner for a while! I haven’t quite made it to the end of this book and do not want to see the end. This is one of those books you just don’t want to have end ever! Forgy pulls you in so much you feel like you’re sitting there watching the events unfold. This is a semi dark biker romance but it is delivered so well that you feel like you part of the club itself. The emotion this book pulled from me was amazing. M.N. Forgy has just made my list of favorite authors!

I was pulling for Shadow and Dani to find their road to happiness. These two seem find every bump in the road. Just when you think they are going to find the happy for ever someone or thing comes along and pulls them a part. They are strong and fierce; both fight for what the love.

I will update as soon as I finish the rest of this story but I can tell you know it not going to change much on the review other than me telling you that I’m biting my nails for that next book!

Prologue

“You stole my fuckin’ drugs.”

The foot at my throat presses me further into the cold, scratchy pavement. I gasp, my fingers clawing at fleshy ankles. His skin doesn’t budge; my nails are too short to break the flesh that I’m so desperately scraping at. It does nothing to move him, or send him on his way. Instead, he pushes harder, cutting off more of my air supply.

“That’s not exactly how it went down,” I croak, struggling.

“You were meant to deliver them; instead you fuckin’ sold them, and ran with the money.”

He’s right about that. I did take the drugs and sell them. I had good reason—my boyfriend was in trouble, and I was doing anything I could to get him out of trouble. I didn’t think ahead. I didn’t realize that I’d then owe a very unhappy drug dealer money. Not my finest moment, that’s for damned sure.

“I had no choice . . . I was helping someone I care about.”

He presses his boot down further into my throat, and my air supply narrows down to a dangerous level. My head pounds as the blood and oxygen are cut from my brain.

“I bet that person ain’t here helpin’ you tonight, now, are they?”

No, he’s right about that. Samuel is probably sleeping with someone else. The moment his debt was cleared, he left me. The dirty, cheap fucker left me. Now I’m dealing with the backlash. A furious drug dealer who wants his money.

Money I don’t have.

“Don’t I get,” I gasp, “one chance to get your money?”

He glares down at me through angry grey eyes. I squirm again as my vision starts flittering in and out. Shit, I’m going to pass out and he’s probably going to kill me, or worse, drag my helpless body away to do God knows what with.

“I have m-m-m-money,” I croak.

“If you had money, you wouldn’t have stolen my drugs.”

“I . . .” God, I’m on the edge. “I can get it. I s-s-s-swear.”

He stares at me, and for each second he does, my vision swims. Then, much to my relief, he lifts his boot off and reaches down, hurling my weak body up. He pulls me close, so close that our noses touch. My knees wobble and I have to push all my focus into not falling flat on my face and giving him another chance to take me.

“Listen, and listen fuckin’ good. You’ve got two weeks, and trust me, that’s me bein’ fuckin’ generous. Get my money, or I come for you.”

Shit.

I nod.

“Don’t try and run. You do, I’ll fuckin’ find you.”

I close my eyes, take a deep, burning breath and nod again.

“Two weeks.”

Then he’s gone.

And I know . . . I just know . . . I’m in deep, deep shit.

“Don’t you get it, Ryker?” She stepped away from me and slowly turned around. Before I could process what she was doing, her back faced me as she lowered her robe. With her arms bent at the sides, the robe fell down her back and draped across the back of her waist. She reached up with one hand and pulled her hair over her shoulder so I could see the black lace.

I wanted to run my hands over her skin and feel the lace beneath my fingers. But I stopped myself. My eyebrows pulled in, confused as to what she was trying to show me.

“Look,” she said. “Look closer.”

I did. I moved in and bent down and watched her shiver beneath my hooded gaze. And then I felt the need to hit something because I could finally see what she wanted me to see.

“Faith,” I said as I lightly reached out and began tracing the scars with the tip of my thumb. My teeth ground together and my jaw radiated in pain from trying not to scream at her. I could barely see them under the lace, but they were there. White scars, some still pink. I moved the robe down, wishing the lace was gone so I could see the maze of angry slashes and scars that decorated her fucking gorgeous skin.

“What is this?” I growled. The back of the robe was fisted in my hands and I pulled it off. I didn’t see the beauty in front of me, the woman who could always make my dick hard in seconds. Now I saw the broken and marred skin and all of it was my own damn fucking fault for not taking a minute five years ago to stop and think for one damn second.

Faith looked at me from over her shoulder. I dragged my eyes, reluctantly pulling them off her skin and scars, and saw the deadness in her eyes. “Disobedience has its consequences.”

She shrugged her shoulders and moved away from me, but I stopped her. One hand went to her waist and I tightened my grip on her hip before she could walk away. I stared at my hand on her skin wishing I was touching her for a different reason.

“I’m so fucking sorry.”

Her eyes grew wet before she looked away from me to the floor. My fingers twitched on her hip and I felt her jump slightly.

“Faith,” I said, my throat raw with pain and regret. “We’ll free you from them. I fucking swear it.”

She spun around and my hand fell from her skin down to my side. She reached out, grabbed the robe from my other hand, and shrugged it on, knotting the belt tightly around her waist.

“What you don’t understand,” she said quietly, “is that I’ll never be free again.”

About The Author

Deciding to write books was something I had contemplated for a while. A co-worker of mine had gotten me started me on the 50 Shades Trilogy. I had quickly became absorbed! Reading contemporary romance had become a part of me.
Little did I know that my daughter was a product of the “50 Shades Baby Boom”! I remember going to my doctor’s appointment to find out that we were off to labor and delivery- and I didn’t download any new books to my kindle! Talk about bummed out! However, I made up for that when I was home for my maternity leave. I believe we read 40+ books while I was home.

I am a full time new mom, and wife. Yes, I do work full time, I am currently doing multiple things, bouncing back after baby, weight watchers, exercising, training for a 5k, reading and writing. So far, I have really enjoyed writing as a hobby.

My work book club, “HE” had consumed us (and by us, I mean 2). We were critics of the stories and characters. I then thought to myself, “hmm, I bet I could write stories just like this, and have them turn out like I’d want them to.” Well, joking turned into thinking. Thinking turned into brainstorming. Brainstorming lead to opening a word document and letting my mind explore.

Growing up I had written short stories with friends, and as extra credit for school. This is probably where it all started… I had turned in one of my short stories without re-reading, or editing it completely. I had my paper returned to me saying the “content was inappropriate.” Apparently contemporary romance was frowned upon in English class! Oops! So maybe I was destined to become a writer.

I thought to myself that I want to live in this world and make a difference and have a part of me in history after I leave. This is me staying forever young.

Here I will post my journey, it’s a learning experience for me, so please bear with me.
