Nia Martins believes a fresh start will help her leave her traumatic past behind. Moving to a different country, she seeks to shake off her demons by doing the one thing that sets her free from her destructive thoughts – teaching dance. But change doesn’t come easy, and all Nia really wants is to take the next breath without the perpetual suffocation that follows.

Reeves Mitchell has looked death in the eyes so many times it’s become habitual. That is, until his best friend’s life was on the line. When the one thing he feared the most turns into reality, all he can do is pick up the pieces of his loss. As Reeves tries to live with the constant thought of “what if” gnawing at the back of his mind, he persistently and steadily builds a thick wall around himself.

Their solitary lives are all they have—until fate brings them together. Nia and Reeves’ new friendship helps make life, shadowed by the ghosts of their past, more bearable. But as their relationship deepens and new, suppressed feelings emerge between them, are they willing to retrace their steps back to where wounded hearts can be broken once more?

Guest Post – ‘My inspiration for Retrace’

“I can’t put my finger on anything specific that inspired me to write RETRACE. It was more a blend of many things that eventually grew into a story about letting go and learning to love and accept. Some of the key elements that did inspire me though, were a few crazy, vivid dreams that eventually turned into scenes, music, a lot of music, and mainly the characters themselves. Reeves and Nia practically seized my mind to the point I couldn’t concentrate on anything else and just had to pour their story out of me. The book traces their hesitant journey into deep friendship that helps them cope with traumatic pasts, and gradually leads them to discover the path to heal and accept. As Nia and Reeves’ characters developed into people I believed my readers would feel strongly about, and connect with, in tandem the story took shape into an emotional ride with touches of angst, humor, suspense and a whole lot of steam…”

“So, for the sake of proper conduct, Miss Mitchell,” I send out my hand for a shake, “you know my name…”

She observes my offered palm for a short moment, and fills it with her soft one. Bare, groomed fingernails, just the way I like. In unison our stares drop to where our palms link. Something’s happening there, something that produces energy with unworldly speed.

“Miss Mitchell,” she says, prompting our stares to re-meet. Her expression a transparent tease. I nod, amusement playing on my face.

“Well, we’ve crossed nudity off the list, so I guess it’s safe to say we should be okay on a first name basis…”

She mirrors my glee. “It’s Nia.”

Nia. I repeat her name in my head. Everything about her is just what I like, neat and natural, and absolutely gorgeous. All the good reasons for me to get the hell out of here.

“It was a pleasure,” I say and send her a wicked grin.

She sighs with a smile, in a “what’s done is done, I can’t take it back,” kind of shy way.”

Synopsis

*******This book is the first in the series and includes a cliffhanger ending******

“My name is Addie Sakis, I had a promising future once. I had my whole life planned out, but after that tragic day, everything changed. The world I coveted no longer existed. Ten years went by until one day when Daimon Evans, the boy who bullied me continuously in high school, reemerged back into my life, offering me all that I wanted in exchange for one thing….me.”

Addie Sakis had a sad past, a past that overshadowed her future. She clung to it not knowing how to let it go. That was until Daimon Evans came back into her life challenging her and pushing her back to the fighter he knew still existed inside her. If only she knew that Daimon wasn’t the devil she thought, but rather it was her demons that ruled her, the demons that lay inside her soul.

How far will Addie go to help her family? Which line won’t she cross as she deals with the devil she calls Daimon?

Note from the Author: This is a dysfunctional love and hate trilogy that involves emotional blackmail and a few other situations that the one wouldn’t do to the person they liked or loved. Addie and Daimon do what they do under the guise of a love that hurts so good. Happy Reading.

M.N. Forgy has managed to pull me in to the Devil’s Dust world and I don’t want to come back. I enjoy What Doesn’t Destroy Us now The Scars That Defined Us is just beyond belief. I think I just take up resident in Shadows’ Corner for a while!  I haven’t quite made it to the end of this book and do not want to see the end. This is one of those books you just don’t want to have end ever! Forgy pulls you in so much you feel like you’re sitting there watching the events unfold.  This is a semi dark biker romance but it is delivered so well that you feel like you part of the club itself.  The emotion this book pulled from me was amazing.  M.N. Forgy has just made my list of favorite authors!

I was pulling for Shadow and Dani to find their road to happiness. These two seem find every bump in the road. Just when you think they are going to find the happy for ever someone or thing comes along and pulls them a part. They are strong and fierce; both fight for what the love.

I will update as soon as I finish the rest of this story but I can tell you know it not going to change much on the review other than me telling you that I’m biting my nails for that next book!

Excerpt

“Are you ready for part two of this gift?”

My tiger eyed me suspiciously. “And that would be—”

“The fun part. You get to ride me.”

Jen’s face lit up like a little kid about to go on one of those coin-operated mechanical horsey rides. Wasting no time, she tore off my boxers she had on and repositioned herself, straddling my lap with my cock impaled inside her. Gripping her hips, I bucked her hard as she rode me up and down. I hissed. Fuck, yeah! This was good. So fucking good and for both of us. Holding on to my shoulders, she got to control the pace while I got to go as deep and as hard as I could. I repeatedly hit her G-spot with each powerful thrust. She shrieked with pleasure each time I did.

I gazed at her heated face. Her head arched back, she looked so impassioned, and I was mesmerized by the way the dangling earrings I’d just given her shook and shimmered. Quivering as if they were having little orgasms of their own. I was tempted to nibble her lobes but worried in my state of lust I might bite off an earring and swallow it whole.

I gripped her hips tighter as she accelerated her pace. The friction and heat of her rubbing against my thick length felt so fucking amazing.

“Do you like your present?”

“Oh, God, yes!” she panted out. “I’m so close to coming!”

“Good, baby,” I groaned.

On the next deep thrust, she fell apart with a thunderous “Yes” and I could feel her throbbing all around my pulsing cock. Her body shook as I grunted out my own explosive climax and met hers full on. Spent and sweaty, we collapsed onto each other, her arms wrapping around me. We stayed in that position for several sweet minutes as we rode our orgasms out.

Five minutes later, we were nestled side by side, her head resting on my chest. We were almost recovered. Now close to five, the sun had begun its disappearing act and cast a mellow amber glow.

Jen traced lazy, ticklish circles on my chest. “Baby, I’ll never be able to top that birthday present.”

I playfully flicked the tip of her cute upturned nose. “Don’t worry, you will.”

“Do you have something in mind?”

“Yeah, I do.” I was turning the big three-O.

“How ‘bout a hint?”

“I want to wake up to my wife.”

I felt her jolt against me. “What are you saying, Blake?”

“What I’m saying is that I want to marry you on the day before my birthday.”

“December twentieth? Gosh, Blake. That’s only two months away.”

“Jen, we’ve been engaged for over five months and it’s time to set a date. My mother has been driving me crazy.”

Jen giggled. “Mine too. I keep telling her that we’ve just been too busy at work.”

Which was true. Except I’d checked our calendars and had come to the conclusion that Saturday, the twentieth, would be a perfect time to get married. With Christmas around the corner, most of our SIN-TV productions would be shut down and our offices would be closed until January third—giving us an opportunity to go on a two-week honeymoon. I explained all this to Jen. She agreed. It made total sense.

She rolled on top of me and gave me a hot spontaneous kiss. “Oh my God, Blake, we’re really going to get married!” The excitement in her voice was contagious. I smashed my lips against hers. “Yes, you’re going to become Mrs. Blake Burns, and tonight we’re going to break the news to our parents.”

“My mother is going to be so excited!” Jen beamed. “She’s been planning our wedding forever.”

I didn’t know if Jen could feel my heart skip a beat. I quietly gulped. And so had my mother. Instead of letting her know this, I urged her to take a shower with me and get ready for our dinner.

The future Mrs. Blake Burns had another surprise in store.

Can Harper really trust Tate, who is everything she thinks she needs to steer clear of?

Can Tate wait while Harper works through her insecurities and fears?

Excerpt

“Andrew?” I question as I reach the table.

“Yes. Harper, hello.” He shakes my hand and the first thing I notice are his warm eyes. They are gentle and sincere and I feel instantly comfortable with him. “Take a seat, please.”

He gestures to my seat before pulling it out for me to sit in. I smile up at him in thanks for the chivalrous action as I slide into the chair.

During our emails back and forth this week, Andrew and I had figured out that we are from similar small towns not far from each other. We laugh about all the misguided town folk and the classic ‘types’ every town has. The town clown who has thought of every invention under the sun, the do-gooder mayor, the old lady gossip group, and the crazy minister and his family. Of course I didn’t laugh at that last one, as true as it is, being the daughter of a minister and all.

“So what do your parents do?” Andrew asks.

“Umm.” I stall looking for a distraction, not wanting to make to him feel bad.

“What can I get you guys?” Tate offers and I’m grateful for the interruption.

“Oh gosh I haven’t even looked yet,” Andrew says as he picks up the menu from the table.

“Just the usual for me please.” As my eyes reach Tate’s his are wide with horror. I sit upright at the urgency in his expression wondering what the hell is going on.

He nods his head in Andrew’s direction and I glance over. Andrew is studying the menu oblivious to mine and Tate’s silent conversation.

I look back at Tate giving him a ‘what’ look as he scratches his head then stiffly nods back in Andrew’s direction.

I sigh frustrated and look back at Andrew. He looks up from his menu and smiles at me before turning to Tate and placing his order.

I still don’t see a problem and look back to Tate with a ‘just fucking tell me’ look.

He begins running his hand through his hair as he harshly nods in Andrew’s direction again. I don’t even bother looking at Andrew again, knowing I’m not going to see anything different than before.

With wide eyes and a clenched jaw, I get out through gritted teeth, “I think that’s all.”

Tate sighs heavily, clearly frustrated and storms away from the table.

I shake my head and when I turn back to Andrew he is staring at me in confusion. “Sorry,” I giggle embarrassed he witnessed that final interaction between Tate and me.

“No worries.” He is sweet but his voice is wary. Tate and I probably looked like two mute idiots. How humiliating.

Andrew seamlessly continues our conversation. I use this opportunity to study him and search for the meaning of Tate’s irrational display.

I didn’t really focus on Andrew’s features before. He’s not ugly, but he’s definitely not in the same calibre as Tate or Glenn.

Now that I’m looking closer at him, there is something off about his looks. I can’t put my finger on it but something doesn’t fit. It has to be something small like his eyes aren’t in line or his facial features are too far apart, maybe bad teeth or ears that are too big or small, but I can’t see any of that. All his features seem symmetrical and in proper proportion to his face, but something is definitely not right.

Out of the corner of my eye I see Tate flailing his arms about. I shoot a glance his way trying not to be noticeable only to see he is frantically running his hand through his hair before tugging on the ends. No, tugging is too tame, he is pulling hard on his hair.

I glance around the café and no one has seemed to notice Tate’s complete and mental breakdown. He’s lost it. Maybe it’s all the coffee fumes, they are really strong in here.

When I look back towards Tate he is on his way over to the table carrying our hot drinks. I roll my eyes at his determined stare and wonder what antics he has planned for us this time.

Tate doesn’t falter as he strides towards the table and proceeds to drop a hot cup of coffee all over the table and into Andrew’s lap. I gasp in shock at what is unfolding in front of me. Andrew jumps from his seat, squealing like a small girl. I watch horrified as his hair falls off his head and lands on the table in front of me.

My mouth drops open as I just stare at Andrew’s toupee lying in spilt coffee. Glancing up at Andrew I see the heat rising on his face and shiny bald head. I smile awkwardly at him as I pick up his hairpiece and hold it out to him as if it’s a pair of dirty underwear and I can’t stand to touch it.

He quickly swipes it from my hand and places it on his head, but not before I notice his whole head, bright red in mortification. It’s like a beacon calling in planes for landing. Andrew stares at me, his hairpiece on backwards and coffee leaking from it, dripping all down his face.

“I’m so sorry Andrew,” I whisper, as I place both my hands over my mouth. Shit, I can feel the laughter rising.

“No, I’m sorry Harper.” My gut churns on his behalf at the humiliation he must be feeling. The silence of the café surrounds us, lucky it’s not overly busy at this time of night. Andrew glares at Tate who smiles and raises his hands innocently, before Andrew storms out of the café not breathing another word, just leaving a trail of coffee in his wake.

“You’re welcome,” Tate says casually as he pulls a clean chair up to the table, before relaxing back into it and crossing his ankles in front of him.

Whew where to begin. I’m still trying to cool down from this hot read. You talk about hot this one is that and more!  Just love them cowboys that seem to know just what they are doing. This read is not only hot but very well written. I could not put this one down. It’s a short read but so much goes on that you feel like you have a full read on your hands. The flow of the story is amazing and smooth. The story just takes off and leaves you panting for more!

Jakob and Kate light up the pages of this book. Both very strong characters the build and play on each other as the story progresses. They both have face and continue to face their own vices. When Jakob takes the job of hunting this mountain lion down, he is looking for some little quite time to himself; little does he know he is getting so much more. Kate refuse to have anyone try and tell her what to do or how to do it. She sure isn’t going to have someone come on her land to hunt the big cat down without her being a part of it.  What they find is so much hotter than the big cat!

Great read now it time to go cool off some so I can get ready for the next book in this series. If it’s as hot as this one I might need some ice!

Excerpt:

Continuing her wide circuit of the rig, Kate’s attention fell to the custom crates built into the bed of the pickup. That explained it. Dog kennels meant the hunter had arrived hours earlier than she expected. But why bring his own horses? As far as she’d heard, most only brought their dogs, and the rancher was expected to provide whatever transportation the hunter preferred, whether it was horses or ATVs. She’d already had two heavy duty ATVs prepared, packed with provisions and extra fuel, in expectation.

And where was the hunter, anyway? Turning, she looked down by the barn, expecting to see a stranger poking around. Nothing. Puzzled, she examined the truck closer. Surely he hadn’t slept in it? No one deliberately slept in a truck the night before hitting the trail with days in the saddle ahead. And yet, where else could he be?

She approached the driver’s door carefully and stretched to try and see through the dark tinted window. Nothing visible, of course. A tap at the window should wake anyone inside, so she gave it a try, and stepped back to wait.

A heavy hand dropped onto her shoulder and she jumped hard, biting back a surprised yelp, and swung, her knuckles landing solidly on a hard jaw.

The deep male grunt confirmed she’d landed a good blow. Long fingers circled her wrist in a grip that promised to easily crush the small bones if she resisted.

Frozen in place, Kate glared up. And up, past a strong throat, beard-shadowed jaw, unsmiling mouth, and straight nose to meet a startlingly green glare. “I’ll let go if you promise not to hit me again.”

Kate nodded willingness to comply and took a fast step back as soon as she was free, while her lower body clenched in sudden tense awareness. “Who the hell are you? And why are you parked by my house?” Dammit, she sounded flustered and breathless, rather than stern and commanding. Damn hormones picked the most ridiculous and inconvenient times to wake up and kick her ass.

His lip quirked a little, as if he could read her thoughts as clearly as the newspaper. “Sorry to startle you, ma’am. I’m Jakob Barger. We spoke yesterday evening I think?” He waited for her nod of recognition. “I pulled in after two and didn’t want to disturb your stock, so I parked up here. I hope that’s okay?”

The combination of gravelly voice and contrite attitude set more hormones on the rampage by way of thundering her pulse through her pelvis. “Kate Holt. Sorry for the… uh,” she brushed a hand over her own jaw to indicate the reddening mark on his. “I don’t normally go around hitting perfect strangers.”

The same long fingers that had circled her wrist gently probed the red mark. “Couldn’t prove it by me.” A sudden sheepish grin broke the tension. “I don’t normally go around startling harmless women either, so I guess we’re even. If you’ll show me where to park my rig, I’d like to let my animals stretch their legs while I get everything ready.”

“Of course. Can I hitch a ride? I’ll help you unload.” No way he’d get that big-ass rig parked without someone directing him either, but she didn’t say that.

“Thanks.” He efficiently loaded his animals back into the trailer, then rounded the front of the truck in long easy strides and opened the passenger door and stood waiting. Evidently he meant to hold the damn door for her to climb in.

Kate gave a little shrug. Whatever floated his boat, as long as he caught that lion, made no difference to her. Except he stood there watching her. “You know you don’t have to hold the door for me, right? I can manage that little task for myself.” Annoyance crept into her voice.

Reacting to what he probably thought was her resistance to being taken care of in any way by a man, Barger raised his hands and stepped away from the truck. “Suit yourself.” He crossed back to the driver’s side.

Kate took advantage of his attention being elsewhere to get to the passenger door. Now why the hell did she need to hide her limp? She never bothered with it, and he would see it sooner rather than later anyway, while she helped him park and unload. Certainly not vanity—she’d long ago given that up, settling for neat and clean, or hardworking when that wasn’t possible.

So what on earth had her hiding her weakness from Jakob Barger? It wasn’t like she had even a remote chance in hell at getting his attention, or even truly wanted to, despite the uproar he’d put her hormones into. Still, it might be nice to have a man like him of her own. Tall and solid with muscle, handsome in a rough sort of way, and evidently quick witted.

Kate shook the nonsense from her head and climbed into the passenger seat of his truck, realizing the error too late. The warm musky scent of healthy male blended seamlessly with horse, leather and hay, and stood up to introduce itself, much to the delight of her libido. Oh shit, she was in serious trouble here. Thoughts of a week or more on the trail alone with owner of that scent did something funny to her stomach.

He climbed behind the wheel and started the truck, and blasted the interior of the truck with a combination of hard beat and screaming guitar. He hurried to turn the volume down. “Sorry, forgot it was so loud.”

At least his scent no longer consumed her awareness. “What the hell was that anyway?”

Jakob glanced at her as he backed the trailer slowly toward the split in the driveway. “What do you mean? You’ve never heard Metallica?” When she shook her head, he stopped the truck a moment to fiddle with the CD player. “This is called ‘Enter Sandman’. One of my favorites. Listen?” When she nodded again, he turned it up to just above normal listening volume for her.

The catchy tune quickly gave way to the hard beat from earlier, and a growling voice blended perfectly. “Say your prayers little one, Don’t forget my son…” Kate listened, captivated, as something in that voice reached into her and gripped a part of her she hadn’t known existed. By the time the last notes trailed away, she knew without a doubt, she’d found something entirely new and unexpected.

Jakob watched her, not hiding his knowing smile. “Gotcha.” His exact duplication of the growl on the CD sent a shiver down her spine. “Not what you expected?” His voice had gone back to normal, but her newly trained ear picked up the sinister growl hiding within the gravelly tones.

The shudder of appreciation wasn’t easy to conceal, but Kate thought she managed it fairly well. “Not at all. I’ve never been interested in that kind of music. Always just turned the dial as quickly as possible.”

“Hang around me a while. I’ll show you something far more interesting than what you’re used to.” The way his gaze swept over her features, paused at her breasts, and continued downward said he fully intended the double meaning.

Okay, she really needed to change the subject. The lane to the barn appeared, offering the perfect opportunity. “Go forward and bear left here. You’ll round the barn to the right and pull around back. I have a shed back there if you’d rather park under cover, or you can park just to the side of the shed.”

The truck stopped and Jakob nodded once before putting it in gear and following directions. “Do I get an answer now? Or do I have to wait until I catch you a lion?”

“An answer to what?”

“Will you hang around me enough for me to show you some interesting things?”

Oh…boy. Every more severe epithet she’d ever known fled right out of her head. So much trouble. “That—” She had to pause and clear her throat to get the breathy, wanton tone out of her voice. She tried again, “That depends.” Better.

“On what?” The grin he flashed her way said he knew all about the pulse that suddenly pounded her core. “I haven’t decided yet.”

It was a good thing he’d stopped the truck behind the barn, waiting to see where he should go next. She opened her door and bailed when self-preservation demanded she get the hell away from all that overwhelming maleness. The man absolutely oozed sex at the moment, and she wasn’t equipped to deal with that sort of assault on her senses. Nothing in her life had prepared her for that.

Exclusive Blog Tour Interview with Jakob

We’re here with Jakob Barger, main character of Big Game: Hunted Love #1, by Aden Lowe, to get a little insight on the book and what might be in store for Kate and Jakob in their second book, at the end of the Hunted Love series.

**Jakob, I gathered you spent a lot of time with your Uncle Frank as you were growing up. Were you close to your parents at all?

Jakob: My dad was killed when I was ten. He was a firefighter. But yes, I was close to him. After he died, Uncle Frank sort of stepped in to help my mom. She was devastated without my dad. I grew up hearing stories of how much they loved each other.

**What were you thinking when you first realized you were falling for Kate?

Jakob: Part of me was terrified. I knew she was at least attracted to me, but I had no idea if it was more than that for her. I was also relieved in a way, to know that the kind of love I’d heard of all my life actually could happen more than just that one time. I’d always been afraid it was some kind of fluke or something, and certainly never expected to care that much about anyone. A lot of people go through life without even hoping that can happen to them. Hell, most of the guys I know don’t even give a damn, and I probably wouldn’t either if I hadn’t heard those stories as a kid.

** What was it about Kate that initially got your attention?

Jakob: Hahaha, her fist. Seriously, I’m not really sure. I think it was partly her strength, but she was also this really odd mixture of innocence and experience… It’s hard to explain. The closest I can think of is when people say someone is ‘wise beyond their years’. Only with her, it didn’t apply only to the big ‘life lesson’ things, but to every single facet of her. I have a thing with puzzles, can’t resist them, and to me, she presents the ultimate puzzle. I’m willing to spend the rest of my life trying to figure her out.

And there you have it. Don’t miss the next installment of the Hunted Love series, Bounty, due out in a couple of weeks.

~ Author Bio ~

Growing up an only child, I was lucky enough to have a huge brood of cousins to help me get into all sorts of trouble. Long summers spent on various family members’ farms gave me a deep appreciation for the outdoors and horses. I worked my way through college training horses as a result of those summers.

After 15 years editing books for strangers, I decided to try my own hand at writing. Big Game: Hunted Love #1 was my solo debut, and my story idea file is endless. After I finish the Hunted Love series, I have a romance series featuring soldiers returning from war and set twenty years in the future. And after that, there’s a Roman Gladiator who keeps insisting on telling me his story…

Excerpt

Brea quickly grabbed a glass of champagne from the bartender, desperately wishing it were a shot of Patron, turning to lean back against the bar and search for her producer, Garrett. He was nowhere to be found, but sure enough, the bane of her existence was striding toward her with purpose. Could a girl not catch a break? Downing the champagne in one unladylike gulp, she put her glass on the bar and waited for the showdown. It was bound to be a good one, if the first two were any indication. For once, she wasn’t going to shy away from him, figuring she needed to nip his arrogance in the bud now.

“Hey, darling.” Lance smirked at her, knowing he irritated her and doing it anyway. She smiled mockingly.

“Look who it is: Hollywood legend and actor extraordinaire.” She leaned closer, her lips a hair’s breadth away from his. She knew exactly what she was doing and knew she had him when those green eyes grew hazy with what was to come.

“Edgy, sexy as fuck, and just rough enough around the edges to seduce random girls in the back.” She moved, kissing his cheek softly before whispering in his ear, “Too bad you won’t ever get that shit from me.” She felt him tense at her words, but he kept quiet. She pulled back, laying her lips lightly on his before she leaned back to gauge his reaction. His eyes narrowed, realizing he played right into her hand, and he moved before she could guess what he was doing.

She found herself pinned between his arms against the bar, her body pressed against his tightly. She could feel his erection against her center, making her want to rub up and down his body. She didn’t have to move; he did it for her, holding her hostage with his piercing glaze. He rubbed once, twice, making her squirm in an unconscious bid to get closer. What started as her plan to put him on notice had backfired.

“You feel that?” He pressed his erection into her hips, pressing tiny kisses to her jaw. She bit her lip to resist the moan of pleasure. She was captivated and could do nothing except nod her agreement.

“Good. I want you to feel me, and know this—” he rocked against her again “—is all for you. I’m not like your other guys. I’m not nice, and it won’t be pretty. But you’ll beg.” He bit her ear lobe softly. She was burning up and about ten seconds away from hopping on the bar and spreading her legs for him before he jerked away from her. Brea stumbled from the loss of contact, embarrassed by her reaction to him, staring into green eyes flashing in anger.

“Listen, Brea, this ain’t a game. You want me? That’s fine. Jealous because you think I took some girl in the back room? I didn’t, by the way, when all I’ve seen for the past three days is you, but I got no problem with that either. But if you want to be a cocktease in the middle of a cocktail party? You better be prepared to follow through with what you’re promising.”

“I’m not like that,” she argued, irritated he continued to ignore what she said. Again.

“You’re not like what? Because the only two times we have really interacted you have been like that. So, who are you? America’s sweetheart or harlot?”

Prologue

“You stole my fuckin’ drugs.”

The foot at my throat presses me further into the cold, scratchy pavement. I gasp, my fingers clawing at fleshy ankles. His skin doesn’t budge; my nails are too short to break the flesh that I’m so desperately scraping at. It does nothing to move him, or send him on his way. Instead, he pushes harder, cutting off more of my air supply.

“That’s not exactly how it went down,” I croak, struggling.

“You were meant to deliver them; instead you fuckin’ sold them, and ran with the money.”

He’s right about that. I did take the drugs and sell them. I had good reason—my boyfriend was in trouble, and I was doing anything I could to get him out of trouble. I didn’t think ahead. I didn’t realize that I’d then owe a very unhappy drug dealer money. Not my finest moment, that’s for damned sure.

“I had no choice . . . I was helping someone I care about.”

He presses his boot down further into my throat, and my air supply narrows down to a dangerous level. My head pounds as the blood and oxygen are cut from my brain.

“I bet that person ain’t here helpin’ you tonight, now, are they?”

No, he’s right about that. Samuel is probably sleeping with someone else. The moment his debt was cleared, he left me. The dirty, cheap fucker left me. Now I’m dealing with the backlash. A furious drug dealer who wants his money.

Money I don’t have.

“Don’t I get,” I gasp, “one chance to get your money?”

He glares down at me through angry grey eyes. I squirm again as my vision starts flittering in and out. Shit, I’m going to pass out and he’s probably going to kill me, or worse, drag my helpless body away to do God knows what with.

“I have m-m-m-money,” I croak.

“If you had money, you wouldn’t have stolen my drugs.”

“I . . .” God, I’m on the edge. “I can get it. I s-s-s-swear.”

He stares at me, and for each second he does, my vision swims. Then, much to my relief, he lifts his boot off and reaches down, hurling my weak body up. He pulls me close, so close that our noses touch. My knees wobble and I have to push all my focus into not falling flat on my face and giving him another chance to take me.

“Listen, and listen fuckin’ good. You’ve got two weeks, and trust me, that’s me bein’ fuckin’ generous. Get my money, or I come for you.”

Shit.

I nod.

“Don’t try and run. You do, I’ll fuckin’ find you.”

I close my eyes, take a deep, burning breath and nod again.

“Two weeks.”

Then he’s gone.

And I know . . . I just know . . . I’m in deep, deep shit.

If you love Good Wood you’re going to fall in love all over again with Molly wood. This is a light emotional read. You have a mix of about everything you would want, a touch of mystery / suspense, emotional pull and some pretty hot encounters. The story flows so well that you just can’t put the book down.

You see more of their fears and joys in life.  Let’s just admit we all just love there batter between them and everyone they interact with. I fell in love with Molly’s feisty, sarcastic attitude from the very beginning.  Joe wanting to hold things together and hide from everyone makes you want to take all his pain away. Let’s not let the fool us Joe gives as good as he gets and just has a very interesting appeal about him.

I am totally blown away how this series gets more amazingly hot with each new part. This is one series that has become a keeper from the very start. I want to cry every time when I turn that last page, it’s one of the stories that you wish you never had to put down. Very well written and the flow is so smooth you feel like you’re living the story instead of reading one!
