“Do you know her?” Damon asked but
he never looked away from the girl.
            “No,
but I know she can ride. And won a lot of money.” Devin smiled and held up a
wad of cash. Damon would bet it was at least two thousand dollars.
            “I’ll
give it to her.” Damon grabbed the money out of Devon’s hand and headed toward
the girl.
            “Damn
man, give the rest of us a chance, dude.” Damon ignored him and jumped off of
the platform. He stepped up on her right side just out of eye sight.
            “Your
winnings.” When she turned to face him, he got a good look at her up close. She
had green eyes, jet black hair that was wet from her helmet and bronze skin.
            Her
tank top was damp from sweat and clung to her torso. He could see the outline
of her breasts under her bra and her waist was small, emphasizing her ass and
hips. She had long legs but she was petite enough to where he could pick her
up, throw her over his shoulder and carry her off with one arm. Caveman thinking, Damon.
            “Are
you going to stare all night or give me my money?” Damon blinked. He looked
down at the hand she was holding out waiting for him to hand her the money.
When he looked up at her face, she had a small smile.
            “I’m
not done staring yet.” She actually blushed.
            “You
can hand over my winnings or I can take them from you. Your choice.” She tilted
her head to the side just a little. Yeah,
that would be fun.
            “I’ll
take option two, after I buy you a drink. You know, to celebrate you winning.”
Damon could tell everyone near them was watching and listening, but he didn’t
care. He crossed his arms over his chest, money still in hand.

I’ve been waiting for love. I’ve watched my closest family find their perfect match, and it’s made me realize my current boyfriend is not mine. When a stranger comes to town, I’m intrigued, but not ready to give up my newfound freedom. A whirlwind of events throws us into each other’s path, where I eventually discover I’m the teacher of his youngest sister. Concerned about Amaryllis’ reading, I take on the role of mentor to her. Soon I learn a lesson or two from big brother, Leon Ramirez. In a push and pull, we struggle as we each have demons in our past.

A smart girl would never stay in a bad relationship.

A gang member could never want more from his life.

Stereotypes remain false words.

As I learn to fight for love, I find that words do matter.

Sometimes they can hurt more than sticks and stones.

excerpt

She was out of my league in more ways than one, but I noticed her long brown hair, skimming down her back, hanging straight. I hadn’t noticed before that she had some kind of highlights that shimmered in the harsh fluorescent lighting of the room. Just the sight of her brought tightness to my chest. I couldn’t get enough air. I was about to walk away, knowing I could never be involved with her, when I changed my mind and opened the door to hear her let out a squeak.

“You scared the crap out of me,” she hissed, but with a small smile. My breath hitched when she looked at me, then her face hardened slightly.

“Mr. Ramirez. I haven’t seen you in a while. How are you?” She was all formal politeness as if I were some student’s father.

“Ms. Carter. I’m fine, and you?” I replied with mockery in my voice.

She smirked at me and then returned to finish writing on her white board. I took in the classroom, noting that it was for younger students, but not really noticing anything at all. I sat at a desk in the front row then slid my palms over to the edge of the flat surface and gripped it.

“So this is your classroom,” I said, not really knowing what to say.

“Yes. I believe you are familiar with it as you clean it each night.”

I grunted, and looked away.

“You always work late.” It was said as a question, but was more of a statement.

“I work hard…and I have a lot to do.”

I might have thought she was dismissing me, but I didn’t move from the desk.

“Tell me what you do.”

She turned and glared at me, as if I had insulted her.

“I mean, tell me what you have to do so late each night. Why aren’t you home, or on a date?” This last question I didn’t want answered. Maybe she did have dates. I wouldn’t know and shouldn’t care.

“I have to get organized for the next day. Plan. Grade. Contact parents.” She leveled a stare at me.

I only nodded in response.

“Do you have a lot of naughty children?” I laughed.

“Naughty?”

“You know, misbehaved, so that you have to call their parents.”

“Not many. I call more with concerns related to academics.” She glared my way again before straightening something on her desk.

“I got in trouble a lot in school,” I began, looking at her as she continued to ignore me. She was purposely doing it now, because she’d straightened the same pile several times, even though it was already neatly stacked.

“Uh-huh,” she pretended disinterest.

“Stared out the window. Teased the girls. Talked a lot in class.”

She looked up at me finally and raised an eyebrow above her sexy glasses.

“I was a good student, academically,” I emphasized, “but I was bored and that can lead to trouble.”

She came around her desk and sat on the edge, listening intently.

“I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I made some…poor decisions. I was in two different high schools, and it was when I was a junior that things changed for me. I had an AP Physics teacher that believed in my potential and helped me apply to college. I’d be the first one in my family to ever go.”

I was lost in the thought of Mr. Croft, who’d pushed me to work harder and do better in order to make the basketball team with passing grades. When I was a senior, Mr. Croft helped me fill out the forms for Northeastern and secure the necessary student scholarship. I hated to think that I might have disappointed Mr. Croft by taking this break in my senior year.

I looked up at Tricia, who was watching me.

“I wanted to be a pro-basketball player, but that wasn’t going to happen by attending a Chicago city university. Physics was my next favorite subject, and I’m good with my hands and building things. I like to study things like motion. Basketball is all physics.” I held my hands up as if to show her my physical tools, then felt silly and returned them to grip the edge of the desk. She walked over to stand in front of the desk where I sat and balanced against the edge of it.

“When I had to…when I came up here, I had to put it all on hold; hopefully only until January,” I added the last part and looked at her sheepishly. She seemed to be attentively listening and not judging me. I could tell in the way she held her hand under her chin, fingers wrapped around her exposed neck. She appeared thoughtful and I wanted her to know something about me. I wanted her to understand that I was trying to keep my life together. I had a goal.

“What?” she asked and I saw her swallow. I hadn’t realized how long I’d been staring at her.

“I’m trying to imagine getting in trouble by you as my teacher,” I lied to cover the stare. “I don’t think you could be intimidating.”

“Intimidating? I can be intimidating,” she laughed.

“Doubt it. Pretend I just teased someone or talked too much, and give me your best Ms. Carter scowl or reprimand.”

She laughed and then tried to straighten her face. She bit her lip, which was more seductive and playful than frightening, and I assumed she did it to hold back another laugh. She leaned across the desk, hands on either side of the flat writing surface, and looked down at me over those glasses. She was trying to be firm, but I could tell again that she was struggling. She tugged at her own lip to hold the smile. She had pressed her breasts together, unknowingly. My eyes wandered down her neck to the V-cut and her exposed cleavage.

“Are you looking at my breasts?” she gasped.

“Well, you put them in my face and if I was twelve, I would be so distracted I wouldn’t mind getting in trouble.”

She gasped even louder and pushed off the desk, but my quick hands imprisoned each of her wrists, holding her palms on the desktop.

I blatantly looked at her rising breasts, pressed firmly together and bursting out of the V in her sweater. My eyes climbed up her soft looking neck to her jaw, and then to her mouth before I met her eyes. Those glasses were too damn hot.

“You aren’t very scary as a teacher,” I said, not recognizing my own voice.

“You aren’t scary, either,” she replied, but I knew she was lying. Her ragged breathing gave away the fine line between thrill and threat. I wouldn’t hurt her. I could never hurt a woman the way I had seen others do it. I wouldn’t ever stand by and watch others hurt women.

My hand slowly slid up one of her forearms and I could feel her tremble under my touch. Her mossy colored eyes sparkled with gold flecks. I could be lost in them forever, if I let her in. But I couldn’t do that.

“You play the role of naughty teacher pretty well,” I teased.

“Naughty teacher?” she gasped again, trying to pull out of my firm hold on her.

“You know you have the sexy, tease factor going on. And the glasses…” I smiled slightly as she turned a shade of pink. Pink was definitely becoming one of my favorite colors on her. I wanted to trace the line of that blush as it traveled from somewhere within her sweater, up her neck, and over her face.

“Tease?” she questioned firmer.

The door to her room opened with a swoosh sound.

“Missa Carter, you work too hard.” Damn that Italian accent.

I released her at the same time she pulled back abruptly, and her foot slipped in her high heels. I reached for her as she regained her composure by gripping the desk a second time to prevent from falling. She looked at me with those mischievous sparkling eyes and a bit of anger. With my hands on her upper arms, I tried to right her from slipping. It pressed her breasts even closer together between her arms. As she clasped the front of the desk, facing me, she almost burst forth from the V-shape in the sweater. My eyes traveled downward before glancing up at her face.

“Bad teacher,” I whispered, shaking my head. Her shocked expression was priceless. I wanted to kiss her. I wanted to kiss her so badly, and that made me a bad boy.

Excerpt

The rest of my family arrives with the late afternoon. There’s an awkward trepidation surrounding each of them before they approach me, and although it makes me feel slightly guilty, I’m a little grateful for it as well. It allows me to soak into a familiar level of numbness that only seems to briefly break when Jameson arrives. His familiar smile falters when he sees me, but he replaces it quickly and pulls me into a hug.

Chicken pot pie is our family’s traditional Christmas Eve dinner, and although I was glad to not have a traditional meal on Thanksgiving with Fitz’s family, I’m even more glad to have the comforting aroma and taste of my mom’s chicken pot pie.

“Ace, do you want some more bread?” Savannah asks, lifting the bread basket and tilting it in my direction. I think I’ve already had this same question posed to me nine other times.

“I’m good thanks.”

“How about some more fried apples?” my mom asks, doing as Savannah had and reaching for the bowl in front of her.

I try to think of a polite way to tell them all to stop bothering me about eating when a glint catches my eye with my mom’s movement. My hand snatches hers and before I realize what I’m doing, I’m gripping her hand too tightly. Bile rises in my throat, forcing me to swallow painfully.

“We were going to tell you all tonight,” she begins. Her hand grows rigid and she attempts to slip her fingers from my hold. I squeeze tighter. “We wanted you to all find out together.”

“What in the hell is wrong with you?” I shout, dropping her hand and retracting mine because I don’t want to touch her. I don’t even want to look at her. I shove my chair back and stand up, not caring what the others are doing in reaction.

“Harper Jo, sit down,” my mom orders, her voice louder than I’ve heard it in years, possibly ever.

I keep walking.

Her quick footsteps follow me. I know that it’s her because of the sound of her heels. My mom has always worn shoes to dinner, and ninety percent of her shoe closet consists of high heels, and right now this fact annoys the hell out of me.

I turn to face her when I reach the kitchen. My mouth opens, preparing to let loose on the anger fueling me, but she beats me to it. “You get back in there this instant! You do not get to judge me, young lady. This is my house, and in my house you respect me. Now get back in there and eat something. You look horrible.” Her tone inflicts a pain that I want to return.

“It hasn’t even been a year!” The volume of my accusation hurts my own ears. “Did you ever even love him?”

Her face contorts, changing from shock to anger to something that looks nearly wicked. “That’s quite the question coming from you, when you packed your bags and left everyone without looking over your shoulder.”

“I hate you right now.” My voice comes out balanced and heat races through me. I was never the rebellious teenager. In all of my life, I never did scream these same words at my mom like I’d heard Mindi, Jenny, Kendall, and even Savannah do on different occasions. But right now, all I feel toward her is hatred that blinds me from any other emotion.

“I’m not so fond of you lately either, kiddo.”

“Then why in the hell did you make such a big deal about me coming home?”

“It was a mistake.” Her light blue eyes look glacial as she stares directly into mine without a hint of regret or remorse.

“I guess you can add it to your list, behind getting engaged within seven months of your husband dying.” My words are far quieter this time. I don’t have the energy to scream them at her like I want to. I use the small amount of what is left to turn before she can respond and head out to the backyard.

My pain feels like a living, breathing thing, consuming me inch by inch as her words play over in my head. My mom’s getting married. The heat that had filled me seconds ago fades, replaced by an icy chill. As I look into the pool that once only held fun and an escape, my body begins to sway. I want to escape again. I want to escape from everything.

Not even the familiar pool holds a warm embrace for me. The water is far cooler than what it has always been kept at, making my skin prickle as I sink further into the abyss. I open my eyes as I go, looking out into a never ending sea of blue.

Arms grab me before I can fully appreciate the beauty of the water and the bubbles floating from my throat to the surface where blurred lights dance. They pull me against a large body that feels sharp in contrast to the open water. As we plunge through the surface, into the night air, I hear him take in a deep breath. He is still anchoring me against him, pulling me toward the shallow end.

I don’t resist. I don’t know what I was doing coming in here. I’m sure he’s thinking I’m insane, or trying to kill myself. I’m not. I wasn’t. I just needed to feel something that didn’t hurt.

Swimsuits, sun, surfing, and a sexy Samoan.

I headed to the island of Oahu, Hawaii to meet with cutting-edge swimsuit fashion designer, Angel D’Amico, to serve as head model for the “Beauty Comes in All Sizes” swimsuit campaign. The designer wants to show the world that beauty is not just a size two. My curves got me into this gig, and, the moment I laid eyes on my modeling “partner,” I’d never been happier with my buxom form.

Tai Niko had everything the average man lacked. Height, broad shoulders, a nipped in waist, square pecs, tree trunk thighs, and a look that rivaled “The Rock.” The part that made me drool and weakened my knees, was the thick, intricate tribal tattoos running down the entire left side of his muscled frame from shoulder to ankle. The design was unlike anything I’d ever seen, and I couldn’t wait to trace the tips of my fingers over every inch.

***

In the fifth book of the Calendar Girl serial, Mia is sent to Oahu, HI. Still on her mission to save her father, she embraces the model life to prove beauty really does come in all sizes.

Each installment in the Calendar Girl Serial will release every month throughout 2015. The stories will feature Mia’s journey as an escort to twelve clients in twelve different locations.

Warning: This book is designed for audiences 18+ due to language and graphic sexual content.

Excerpt

The edge of the mattress bumped his knees and he lowered them both across the bed. Her hips welcomed him, arching up to meet his thrust. Nails stroked lightly across his neck, dragging a ragged groan from him.

“You’d better get rid of these clothes before I tear them off you, baby. I can’t wait.” That voice grabbed him by the balls and spurred him on.

Kellen stood long enough to kick off his boots and folded his cut across the back of the chair against the wall. Jeans and shirt followed. “You better get rid of that dress, little girl, before I finish ripping it off you.”

A lazy smile curved her lips. “I dare you.”

A surge of pure heat settled in his belly. “I was hoping you’d say that.” The torn edge of her gown felt thin as tissue between his fingers as he lifted it away from her body. The tear ended at the top of her shapely thigh, tempting him to rip it the rest of the way and reveal all of her. But no. He’d looked forward to this moment too much to rush. He fully intended to take his sweet time.

Instead of devouring her immediately, he dropped to his knees beside the bed. The fancy shoes intrigued him, the way they emphasized the delicate arch of her foot and the fragile bones of her ankle. Rather than remove them, he kissed along the curve of her instep and found his way to her calf.

An impatient noise came from her and she moved to pull away, but he held her fast. “Kellen, please, this is not time for foreplay.” She hissed a little when his tongue found the back of her knee.

“Little girl, this ain’t foreplay. This is me making every inch of you mine.” The moan of frustration she made brought a smile to his lips. She would be as finely tuned to him as his bike before he finished, ready to respond to his every thought.

Cassie was glad Luke had decided to drive back because her hands were
shaking with a mixture of excitement and nerves. They tried to make
light conversation, but the sexual tension between them was too much to
sustain a topic. They walked into her kitchen together; the mounting anticipation was
palpable. Cassie didn’t realize she was hanging onto the doorknob until
Luke gave her a curious look.“We don’t have to do this if you’re not ready, Cassie,” he said gently.

She’d felt brave in the restaurant and excited on the drive, but now,
back at her place, she was nervous. “I am. At least I think I am. It’s
just been a long time.”

He caressed the side of her neck lightly with one hand, and she sucked in an audible breath. “How long?”

His touch sparked flames of desire through her. She closed her eyes and
savored the feeling before answering in a whisper, “Four, maybe five
years.”

She opened one eye and peered up at him to assess his reaction. His expression was difficult to discern. “You don’t remember?”

Cassie turned her head away. “I was lonely, and he didn’t matter. I
didn’t even know his last name. I’m not proud of who I was back then. I
wasn’t in a good place.”

Tenderly, Luke turned Cassie’s face back toward his. “Don’t hide from me, Cassie. You can tell me anything.”

Cassie blinked back tears. Unless I tell you I may be pregnant. I can guarantee that would be a mood breaker. “Why am I so nervous? It’s not like I’m a virgin.”

He unbuttoned his coat, lifted her hand, and placed it on his chest
above his heart. “You’re not my first either, Cassie, but can you feel
that? My heart is beating like I just finished a sprint. Do you know
why? Because unlike every other time, this feels different—like I’ve
been waiting my whole life for this moment.”

Cassie’s hand shook against his chest. His heart, like hers, was indeed beating a wild dance. “We barely know each other.”

He placed his other hand over hers on the doorknob. “We can fix that.”
He gave her that lopsided, boyish grin of his that melted her heart.
Again. “But you’ll have to let go of the door, Cupcake.”

She laughed nervously and did. He took her hand in his and brought it up
to his mouth, kissing the inside of her wrist while never breaking eye
contact with her. “Let’s go upstairs to your room. We don’t have to
rush. I want to make love to you slowly, learn every inch of you, and
watch you come again and again for me.”

He swung her up in his arms and carried her out of the kitchen, up the
stairs, and into her bedroom as if she were precious to him. Cassie
buried her face in his neck and clung to him. His consideration for her
almost brought her to tears. She was used to people who took from her.
Even if he left before she woke in the morning, she wouldn’t regret
choosing to be with him. He wasn’t like the fumbling boyfriends she’d
had in high school, or the selfish short-term lovers she’d experienced
as an adult. He was a man who knew how to please a woman and intended to
enjoy doing that.

He was brazen as hell from the moment I laid eyes on him. He was aggressive, and dominant, with Mack truck arms, and a bar brawler voice.
He was too good looking for his own good, with a hard jaw, and harder eyes.
I’d always led a fairly peaceful life, but even I could tell at a glance that this man was dangerous. For so many reasons.
Not the least of which being that rough, dirty, sheet-clawing sex fairly radiated off him.
I’d thought I’d known how to handle every kind of man, but this one left me baffled.
To say he wasn’t my type was putting it lightly.
But you couldn’t tell that to my libido.
Not even when I found out the truth.
My lover had lied to me from the very start.
Nothing about our meeting was a coincidence.

TEASER

teaser1Heath’s jaw clenched, like he was bracing himself for something. “I don’t think I have time for lunch.”
My breath stuttered out of my chest. “What do you have time for?”
He didn’t even bother to answer, just took my hand and started pulling me.
And I let him.
Dammit, once I again, I was going to make this way too easy for him.
But one look at his agitated face had left me with an agitated body. The man could make me wet with one look. It wasn’t lost on me how twisted it was that that look was a scowl.
Heath angry = Me turned on.
I really hoped that wouldn’t turn into a thing for me.

I only knew two things when I married Grey Andrews: one, I was in love and two, I wanted to rebel against my parents. For the first time in my life, REALLY rebel. I, however, wasn’t prepared for the onslaught of negativity and abuse I encountered.

Grey would make sure I knew where I stood, with him, and with everyone else. He of course, was allowed to go and do whatever, wherever he pleased. Even during the rare times I would stand up to him, he would be sure that I knew I was nothing.
“You? What man in his right mind would want you? You are the biggest bitch I’ve ever known. Not to mention, you are damaged .” Grey said as he wheeled around with that all too familiar sneer. The last thing I heard was, “I only married you out of pity.”

Did he really mean that? I loved him so much and thought if I loved him enough, he could change. I felt like I had been punched in the gut! Would he realize how lucky he was to have a beautiful wife and son. Only time would tell.

Grey made sure I was knocked down several pegs at all times, but. even worse than that was the way he treated Tyler. My heart bled every time that sweet little boy was pushed off to the side and denied the attention he so deeply needed and deserved.

Do you ever “Get over” abuse, betrayal and adultery? My answer, no. You “get through it”, but you don’t ever “get over” it. You take it one baby step at a time and it is the support of great family, good friends and a loving Heavenly Father that makes continuing on even remotely possible.

Hunter Marshall

Hunter is a native of Idaho. She was born three months too early with a disability and wasn’t supposed to be able to walk, talk, see, hear or have any semblance of a normal life. Her mother however, believed she was more than a disability. She made sure Hunter did everything she was capable of to reach her full potential.
Coming from a big family, it was either keep up or get left in the dust. Because of her love of reading and writing she knew, even at an early age she was destined to be a writer.
She went on to graduate high school much to the awe and amazement of the doctors who told her parents she would never amount to anything, get married or have children. She then succeeded in getting a degree in Social Work. Her knowledge of Social Work and concern for issues facing mankind have assisted her in many aspects of her life, including raising a family and writing her first novel.
