wanted to turn your body into her new home?
horrors, where witches congregate and people ending up dead isn’t rare. When
Karen Hiltzman joins their coven, she has no idea what she’s getting into.
Drawn in, the group convinces her to recruit her best friend, Sarah Matthews,
after discovering that she bears a very special birthmark; one that indicates
she’s the girl they’ve been waiting for.
mob five hundred years prior, Morcant unleashes a spell; a dark and sinister
curse. His ritual transforms Sarah’s body and will bring the dreaded Brenna
back to life when it’s completed. Blake wants to stop him; but will he be
strong enough to defeat his elder sibling, and if he does… will he be able to
let her go when it’s done?
Sarah felt foolish as soon as she stepped onto the bus, with the
eyes of the other passengers upon her; ‘I look like a hooker,’
she lamented. Not daring to sit down in the short skirt, lest she
give anyone a peep show, she stood and held onto the bar that
ran down the center aisle.
‘Of course, I can’t go home,’ her thoughts continue to turn. ‘I’ll
go to the bar and drink a coke. I can sit in a back corner and
hide for a couple of hours.’ She adjusted her grip nervously,
knowing it was a bad plan; ‘that’s the rule… we never go out
alone.’ It was dangerous to say the least, and images of all the
horrible ends she could come to haunted her.
Shaking off her ominous foreboding, she climbed down the
steps of the transport and listened to the click of her heels as
she strutted down the walk. Several of the men she passed
turned to watch her sway, and a devilish grin curled her lips;
‘come on, you like being bad.’ Arriving at her chosen spot, she
sauntered inside.
The club itself dimly lit, the music thumped loudly and vibrated
her organs as soon as she entered. Moving through the crowd,
she made her way to the bar, where she realized the doorman
had allowed her to pass unscathed. Having thought she would
have a coke, she heard herself mutter the word rum along with
it, and a few minutes later, she hovered next to a tall table at
the side of the dance floor, sipping the liquid through a tiny
straw.
About the time her drink needed to be refreshed, one of the
men who had been watching her sidled up and placed one
before her without saying a word. Her devious streak renewed,
she didn’t bother with the sipping, and hoisted the glass to
guzzle about half of it, before lowering it to give him a grin.
“You got a name?” she asked coyly.
“I’m not really into names,” he sneered, looking at the others
who were eyeing his target. Leaning closer so he could peer
down her cleavage, he noticed the silver amulet nestled there.
“You looking for a friend tonight?”
“Maybe,” she swirled her icy beverage, then finished it off. “Are
you a friend?” she cut her eyes up at him and blinked a few
times.
“Sure,” he took her hand, rubbing it roughly between his, “You
in the mood to dance, or find us some place outta the way?”
Giggling loudly, Sarah leaned forward, the alcohol clouding her
thoughts. When her face was within range, he met her, eagerly
exploring the inside of her mouth with his tongue. Deciding she
needed another, he pulled away, and waved at the waitress,
who produced more drinks for them while Sarah began to
wriggle around in time to the music.
“You don’t say much,” the girl screamed to be heard over the
thump of the sound system.
“I didn’t come here to talk,” he replied, putting his hand on her
hip and giving her a squeeze.
“What did you come here for?” she lay against him, placing her
words next to his ear.
Grinning, he didn’t back down, “I’m gonna take you out back
and fuck the hell out of you.”
Sarah burst into a loud laugh, “I’m not doing shit with you…
without knowing your name first.”
“Alright,” he pulled her against him, pressing his hardness
against her belly while his hand rode up the crack of her thinly
covered rear end, “I’m Chase.”
“Chase,” she repeated, feeling the bulge of him, and sliding her
hand around to right her skirt. “Stop that,” she said more softly,
and he kissed her instead, then put his fingers back where they
had been.
“Let’s go find some place a little more private,” he pulled her
along.
“I don’t know if I’m ready for that,” she snickered again.
“Oh, you’re ready,” he guided her through the crowd.

This was a book that I took a chance on and I can’t say that I sorry I did. Normally one that just skims over the synopsis of a book, I had a feel of what the book was going to contain but not complete understanding of it. Going in to the Halloween season I figure I need a change from what I had been reading and gear up for some tricks and treats. I was very impress at how much goes on with this fast read.
This is a story of magic, death and witches. Sarah is pulled in to a group of witches that want her for more than just a new addition to their coven. Sarah has been dragged into a shop that is owned by Morcant and Blake Korrigan by her best friend Karen. Karen has been convinced by the group to bring in Sarah after they have learned of her special birthmark.
They want to bring a witch that was put to death 500 years ago. Brenna will take over Sarah’s body once the spell that is cast by Morcant is completed. Blake not wanting any part of brings Brenna back will go to any length to help defeat his elder sibling.
I was amazed how fast this story took off and how much it draws you in. I love the suspense of what was to come. Samantha take you on a ride with this one that can take off in so many directions that it keep you on your toes. Keeping me on my toes is not an easy thing to do. I am looking forward to more great reads from Samantha in the future.
Weird Facts About Witches:
As part of the infamous “swimming test,” accused witches were
dragged to the nearest body of water, stripped to their
undergarments, bound and then tossed in to see if they would sink or
float. Since witches were believed to have spurned the sacrament of
baptism, it was thought that the water would reject their body and
prevent them from submerging. According to this logic, an innocent
person would sink like a stone, but a witch would simply bob on the
surface. The victim typically had a rope tied around their waist so they
could be pulled from the water if they sank, but it wasn’t unusual for
accidental drowning deaths to occur.
Anyone who knows me could tell you, I am a friendly kind of
person, never met a stranger and take up conversations any
where at any time. I work hard, and my mind never seems to
shut down, as I wake up often in the middle of the night with
ideas pouring out and demanding to be dealt with. Of course
that means much of my books were written in the middle of
the night.
I grew up and still live in the great state of Texas where
everything is bigger, where we have warm weather and a
central location. I love my state, my town, and my family, which
includes my four sons, my significant other, and many friends
as well.
I have thoroughly enjoyed writing the books that are currently
available and hope you will enjoy reading them just as much.
And of course, there will be many more stories to come.
Hey – thank you for joining the tour!!
